Report: New Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry before March 2021

The earnings call in which Ubisoft confirmed that Beyond Good & Evil 2 will not be out for at least the next year also mentioned that the publisher would be shipping five AAA games before the end of 2021.

Three of these would seem to be Watch Dogs: Legion, Rainbow 6: Quarantine, and Gods and Monsters, leaving two places open. We know there’s a new Assassin’s Creed game on the way, the one that everyone is called Assassin’s Creed: Ragnarok even though other leaks suggest that is not the name of the game.

That leaves one spot and I’m afraid Splinter Cell fans are going to have to wait a little longer as Kotaku’s Jason Schreier has stated that the final game is the next title in the Far Cry franchise.

As Watch Dogs: Legion, Rainbow 6: Quarantine, and Gods and Monsters have all been confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X then it is safe to assume the new Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed titles will be heading to the new consoles.

This does leave us wondering about Skull & Bones, announced way back in June 2017 the game was delayed until at least March 2020. In the earnings call Ubisoft did say the two secret games are from their “biggest franchises” so they can;t be Skull & Bones, that is a new IP.

Ubisoft pushed back a lot of its game releases after the poor feedback its latest title Ghost Recon Breakpoint received, which was criticised for being too bloated with systems that were unnecessary, and bugs that made the game a less than enjoyable experience. That feedback meant Ubisoft took its titles back to the drawing board to see how they could make each experience feel more unique.

Far Cry was in the news recently as the last gen spin off, Blood Dragon, is to be re-imagined as a young adult series on Netflix. Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe will be the start of the Ubisoft animated multiverse that wall also include a new animation based on Watch Dogs.
