Animal Crossing: New Horizons – How to sell bugs to Flick and commission models

While there’s tons of beloved characters that have returned for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, there’s also a handful of new semi-regular visitors to your island that you won’t have met before.

Flick is one of these new characters, an insect and bug obsessed chameleon (actually, he looks a fair bit like a dragon!) who’ll come to your island seeking butterflies, grubs, spiders and plenty more. He’ll buy them from you at much higher rates than Nook’s Cranny will, and not only that, but if you want a bug-themed model, he can make those for you as well.

When and how to find Flick

Flick is one of the semi-regular characters in the game who’ll visit your island through the week, but unlike sellers like Kicks, he’ll wander around the island. Keep an eye out for him as you’re doing your daily fossil and fruit gathering chores – though he’s a chameleon, his red skin helps him to stick out.

He’ll be around from early in the morning until 5AM the next day, so there’s plenty of time to meet him and then get your bug hunting done.

What does Flick buy?

Flick is an insect obsessive. He loves larvae, he loves butterflies, he even loves spiders and wharf roaches! He’s basically the exact opposite to Blathers in that regard, and that enthusiasm means he’s will to buy insects from you at 1.5x the going rate.

To illustrate, we’ve compared the buying prices of a selection handful of bugs between Nook’s Cranny and Flick:

So, when Flick is around, you’d be a fool to sell at Nook’s Cranny, and you’ll want to do as much bug hunting as possible with the time you have in the game! You might even want to hold onto rare bugs specially to sell them to Flick when he next visits.

Flick’s Bug Model Commissions

While Flick is happy to take bugs off your hands, he’s also eager to show off his other talent: making models on commission.

He will make models of any bugs for you that you want, and he’ll do it for free. The only requirement is that you bring three of that particular bug to him. That’s pretty simple for common bugs, but if you want something a bit more rare, you might want to store them in your home’s inventory for Flick’s next visit.

Once he has the trio of bugs in hand, he’ll then get to work making that model for you and have it delivered to your mail box the next day.

Oh, and he’ll only work on one model at a time, so you’ll have to wait until the next time he visits if you want more.
