Trollhunters Defenders of Arcadia will bring Guillermo del Toro’s Netflix series to video games this September

Guillermo del Toro’s animated Netflix series Tales of Arcadia is being adapted into video game form, with Dreamworks announcing Trollhunter Defenders of Arcadia. The game will be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on 25th September.

The game tells a brand new story in the universe of Arcadia Oaks, which has set the scene for Trollhunters, 3Below and the upcoming Wizards. While the game is separate, its narrative will try to bring the trilogy together.

Developed by Wayforward, it will be a platform action-adventure, featuring the voice cast from the show, including Emile Hirsch, Charlie Saxton, Lexi Medrano and David Bradley.

Jim Molinets of Universal Games and Digital Platforms said, “DreamWorks Trollhunters Defender of Arcadia will take players on an intriguing and authentic new adventure that showcases the series’ key pillars of friendship, loyalty and fantasy. Expanding on the bold and creative story that has delighted fans for years, the game brings to life the vivid world of Arcadia Oaks in fun and surprising ways.”

Terry Malham, CEO of Outright Games added, “We are immensely honoured to be involved with the franchise in such an integral way. The Tales of Arcadia trilogy is a stand out in the world of streaming content, from the incredible talent involved to the breadth of content in the series. To have our game be a part of this and to work with a developer as renowned as Wayforward to bring it all together is a dream come true for us.”

  1. So is the full title, as shown at the end of that video, really “Dreamworks Trollhunters From Guillermo del Toro Defenders of Arcadia”? Because that’s a bit of a mouthful, really.

Although the press release seems to omit the words “Guillermo del Toro”, which seems odd. And no mention of Netflix either.
