Developed by Activision mobile oriented sister-company King, Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! is the latest take on the endless runner. Crash will run ever onwards into world while players focus on swiping him between lanes to take advantage of jumps, snap up fruit, avoid obstacles and so on.

The game draws inspiration from across Crash Bandicoot’s 25 year history, featuring classic characters, bosses, enemies and lands to visit as you, ultimately, aim to defeat Dr. Neo Cortex’s latest plot. You’ll have serum, bomb, raygun and bazooka pick ups in order to help do just that, not to mention the help of others with a social multiplayer mode.

Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! first soft-launched in a handful of Asian countries back on 22nd April 2020, almost a year ago, before a beta test was announced in September for the game.

It could prove to be a decent diversion, but it’s a very different gaming experience to that of the main Crash Bandicoot series, which has been well and truly reinvigorated in recent years. After the huge success of the N.Sane Trilogy remake, Activision released Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time in 2020, with a recently announced free upgrade to the game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

In our Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time review, Steve wrote:

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time really is the definitive Crash game. Toys For Bob have taken all the series’ trademarks, refined them into a challenging and polished experience and given us tons of levels to play and secrets to hunt for. There’s new characters to play as and masks that shake up the gameplay when they appear, but Crash 4 is the same old Bandicoot who’s learnt a few new tricks.
