Tales of Arise gets new trailer as fans await release date

Japanese publisher Bandai Namco have released a new trailer for their upcoming JRPG sequel, Tales of Arise. This latest one minute clip would appear out of the blue if not for the fact that the Tale series is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

The teaser doesn’t include any gameplay footage though continues to expand on the sequel’s lore and characters who appear in Tales of Arise, giving us a glimpse at different factions, creatures, and locales.

Bandia Namco have yet to announce a release date for Tales of Arise. However, at the end of this latest trailer, they promise that exciting news is just around the corner with an announcement due sometime in Spring. This will hopefully be a confirmation of when the game will launch and, perhaps, a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S reveal. That said, Tales of Arise will still be playable on these platforms via backwards compatibility.

So far, Tales of Arise has only been confirmed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game will run on Unreal Engine 4, promising dynamic, action-packed combat scenes and the best visuals the Tales series has ever had. Here’s what we know about the game’s story:

On the planet Dahna, reverence has always been given to Rena, the planet in the sky, as a land of the righteous and divine. Stories handed down for generations became truth and masked reality for the people of Dahna. For 300 years, Rena has ruled over Dahna, pillaging the planet of its resources and stripping people of their dignity and freedom.

Our tale begins with two people, born on different worlds, each looking to change their fate and create a new future. Featuring a new cast of characters, updated combat, and classic Tales of gameplay mechanics, experience the next chapter in the world-famous Tale of series, Tales of Arise.

The most recent game in the series, Tales of Berseria, scored an 8/10 in our review at launch. A Definitive Edition of Tales of Vesperia was released in 2019 – you can find our review here.
