The first Xbox showcase of the year will be held next week on 26th March, partnering with Twitch gaming and focusing on indie titles coming to the platform via ID@Xbox. Over 25 games will have with new trailers and gameplay, including Second Extinction, The Ascent and an update on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, but there will be 100 games in total.
So, tune in on Friday 26th March at 9AM PDT. Since the US is on daylight savings time while the UK and Europe is not, this is 4PM UK time and 5PM European time. As it’s sponsored by Twitch, you can watch it at Twitch.tv/twitchgaming or Twitch.tv/xbox.
New game announcements will be coming from developers an publishers that include DrinkBox Studios, Curve Digital, Devolver Digital and Dear Villagers – the first few letters of the alphabet are getting a lot of representation here – and Microsoft has confirmed that Second Extinction, The Ascent, The Wild at Heart, Voidtrain, Exo One, while there will also be an update on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
The Ascent was announced in the first Xbox Series X game showcase, but later scheduled for a release in 2021 (day and date for Xbox Game Pass). S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was announced quite some time ago, but last July confirmed as a timed exclusive for Xbox Series X and PC. No release window has been publicly announced yet.
Second Extinction, meanwhile, is currently in Steam Early Access, with an expected release in 2021. Voidtrain, a first person survival action game based around an interdimensional train journey, was revealed last June (and looks natty) but has a planned release date in 2022, while Exo One gravity-defying journey of discover is “coming soon”.
All of the games mentioned are without firm release dates, and I’m sure we can expect a fair few announcements in that direction. One thing we can definitely say is that all of the games will be coming to Xbox, and we can also expect Microsoft to be splashing some cash around in order to secure these games for Xbox Game Pass.
