Rebellion has announced the start of a new DLC season for Zombie Army 4: Dead War. Season 3, titled Return to Hell, is a new three-part campaign that will be released over the coming months for the popular co-op shooter. It starts today with the release for the first mission, Terminal Error. Oh, and there’s some free content for all players as well.
Terminal Error sees your team of deadhunters following the signal of a transmission that leads you to a derelict base on the Italian coast. You’ll have to battle your way through an open-ended level and try to put an end to the sinister plot. Will you be successful? Well, probably not before you’ve fought your way down to Hell.
The mission is available separately for £5.59 / $6.99 / €6.99, or as part of the £29.99 / $34.99 / €34.99 season pass. That promises the following:
- 3 campaign missions
- 5 character skin packs
- 5 weapon bundles
- 5 weapon skin packs
- 4 headgear packs
- 4 charm packs
For today, alongside the release of Terminal Error, there’s the following batch of other new content including weapons, characters skins, charms and more. These include:
- Undercover Marie Outfit
- Zombie Headgear Pack
- MI934 Pistol Bundle
- Elemental Weapon Skins
- Zombie Charm Pack
There’s also a batch of free new content, including a new Nightmare Mode difficulty level for 1-2 players that will be the game’s ultimate test, and a free new horde map Frozen in Fear, new voice selection feature to let you use any voice with any character, and some quality of life improvements to go alongside.
Zombie Army 4 has recently been on a lot of new players’ playlists, thanks to its inclusion in April’s PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass updates, and getting a free update to support 4K and 60fps on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. There’s already been two pretty extensive seasons of DLC with three missions apiece, and this third will make this easily the best supported game from Rebellion to date.
We had a grand old time with our Zombie Army 4: Dead War review when it came out back in February 2020. With new player abilities and weapon mods, alongside more refined level design, I said:
“If you like shooting zombies with friends, then Zombie Army 4: Dead War is the game for you. There’s a few new twists and several layers of progression now thrown into the mix, as you battle undead Nazis once again, but this is classic undead sniping action through and through.”
