The PlayStation Showcase is happening tonight at 9pm BST and we are promised a “a look into the future of PS5”. Great news for those who have managed to get a console, slightly less exciting for those still hammering F5 on the Argos home page waiting for more stock to be delivered.

The PlayStation Showcase: Where to watch

The PlayStation Showcase will be broadcast on both YouTube and Twitch.

The PlayStation Showcase: What to expect

The big money is on something Crash Bandicoot as Activision have been sending out a Crash Bandicoot 25th Anniversary package to sites and writers and it includes a Wumpa Piñata. Activision have sent out similar promotional items before including furry dice to announce Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled and a purple egg for the Spyro remasters.

The latest pack has a postcard that refers to the ‘Wumpa League’, a title that appeared in the background of a promo video in November last year. A league would mean some sort of sports or racing title, so perhaps a sequel to Crash Team Racing will be announced.

Sony have also renewed the domain for Sucker Punch’s inFamous series, leading to speculation that a new game would be in the works. However, Sucker Punch are probably working hard on a sequel to Ghost Of Tsushima, and in interview on the PlayStation Blog, studio co-founder Brian Fleming explicitly stated “it was time for us to move on from inFamous.” Could another team have picked up the franchise?

The remastered PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto V is out this November so that’s bound to get a trailer and Horizon Forbidden West will also get a brief mention, although just a quick one as it was meant to be out in the next month or so.

The one game everyone wants to see is God of War: Ragnarok but it was in very early production when it was first revealed, will Sony have something to show? A new trailer for Gran Turismo 7 is almost certain and perhaps we might get a release date as well. Media Molecule have been quiet recently, a PS5 version of Dreams could be on the cards, and it’s been over a year since we heard anything from Naughty Dog, could they reveal their new multiplayer game?

Away from Sony’s studios we may also see Hogwarts Legacy, Final Fantasy XVI or Final Fantasy VII Remake Part II, Gotham Knights, and Elden Ring. There are plenty of other PlayStation exclusives on the way including Dustborn, Moss: Book II, Ghostwire: Tokyo, SIFU, and Pragmata, and Sony have over ten more new IPs in development.

If you want a risky bet, how about a sequel to Returnal? It didn’t sell bucketloads but had some great reviews.
