The Porsche Vision Gran Turismo has been unveiled, and it will be an exclusive car in Gran Turismo 7, Polyphony Digital has confirmed. The Porsche Vision Gran Turismo was revealed during the Nations Cup Final of the FIA-certified Gran Turismo Championships 2021 World Finals over the weekend. You can see the car in action from Gran Turismo 7 in the new trailer that was released alongside the announcement.

The Porsche Vision Gran Turismo has been designed as a fully electric sportscar and is a proof of concept for future vehicles from the car maker. The reveal of the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo follows on from a video which captured a flying lap of the Deep Forest Raceway. That video shows a cockpit view of the lap and showcases the visual and sound design in Gran Turismo 7. The camera bounces as bumps are hit in the road, and you can clearly hear the different engines of the cars that are alongside on the track.

Following in the racing line of Gran Turismo Sport, Polyphony Digital’s upcoming Gran Turismo 7 will also require an internet connection in order to save your profile. That’s regardless of whether you’re playing online competitive races, “offline” in the game’s campaign, and even using the livery editor, Scapes photo mode, GT Cafe or GT Auto. The only thing you can do without an internet connection is play the Arcade mode.

Series creator Kaz Yamauchi explained that the reason “is just to prevent cheating overall from people trying to modify the save data, so that’s the reason for the online connection”. He later clarified, “The online connection is required for the campaign mode. The only part of the game that doesn’t require an online connection is the arcade mode, because that has no effect on the save data, so that’s possible.” Gran Turismo 7 is coming out for PS5 and PS4 on 4th March 2022, a surprise cross-generational release considering its original announcement – if you want to upgrade from PS4 to PS5, you’ll be able to pay the $10 difference to do so.
