Uncharted Legacy of Thieves PS5 upgrade and release date announced

uncharted ps5 pc release date

Sony has announced a release date for Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection. The remastered double package hit PS5 first on January 28, 2022, with a PC release date yet to be confirmed though still coming in 2022.

Over on the Official PlayStation Blog, more details have been shared with our first proper look at Uncharted PS5 gameplay.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection includes both Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Both PS4 classics include new features and graphics options for those wanting to replay them on PS5. Or experience them for the very first time.

Let’s talk graphics first. These game already look stunning on Sony’s previous hardware, however players can flip between three modes depending on their preferences. These include:

  • Fidelity Mode – For those of you who have a 4K display and want super sharp resolution above all else to enjoy the stunning environments and details the Uncharted series is known for, select Fidelity Mode and play in native 4K resolution with a 30fps target framerate.
  • Performance Mode – We carried over the high framerate PS4 patch with Performance Mode, which targets a 60fps frame rate.
  • Performance+ Mode – If you’re all about the smoothest gameplay possible and don’t mind a resolution drop, try out our first ever Performance+ Mode which targets 120fps at a 1080p resolution.

This wouldn’t be a PS5 re-release with making use of unique system features such as immersive haptic feedback via the DualSense controller and spatial 3D audio.

For those who already own Uncharted 4 and/or The Lost Legacy on PS4, there’s a $10/€10 upgrade that will unlock their respective PS5 versions, ready to download on release date.

In sadder news, Uncharted 4’s brilliant competitive and co-op multiplayer modes won’t feature in the Legacy of Thieves Collection. While it’s disappointing to leave this huge portion of the game in the past, Sony is clearly focusing on the explosive cinematic campaign both games have to offer. Besides, the original multiplayer servers are still online for those wanting to play.

One final thing to note is that all purchases/upgrades made in Australia, New Zealand, UK, or the US before February 3, 2022, will receive a standard ticket code to watch the Uncharted movie.

Senior Editor bursting with lukewarm takes and useless gaming trivia. May as well surgically attach my DualSense at this point.

  1. It’s a shame the fidelity mode on these last-gen games doesn’t run at 4K 40fps, so those of us with 120htz displays get a new frame once every 3 screen refreshes, not once every 4

This was implemented on Ratchet even with RT (IIRC), so should be possible on last-gen

    • I’m going to assume that most devs are waiting for VRR support to be added, at which point they can just unlock frame rates. That will likely be less of a technical hurdle to overcome. I believe we only had 40fps support added to R&C because VRR wasn’t about to be an option any time soon.
