A new trailer for Destiny 2: The Witch Queen has been released as part of The Game Awards 2021 and all the action is taken from the first mission for the game. It’s also rather different to previous trailers as it includes live action elements.
“Having returned from an encounter with Savathûn, the Witch Queen, a troubled Guardian provides a debriefing for Ikora Rey and Eris Morn. Their findings are concerning to say the least. Was this an illusion or the terrifying truth?” ask Bungie.
The expansion will be released on February 22nd, 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, and PC.
The new play area is Savathûn’s Throne world, “an uncharted land of secrets of lies”, with a large castle, a swampy forest and a massive Pyramid ship. Savathûn is using light powers used against the Guardians and has created her own Hive Guardians. The campaign will include a new Legendary mode with restricted spawning and more difficult enemies.
The new Glaive weapon has also been revealed as part of the new weapon crafting mechanic. “Weapon crafting gives you ultimate control over the guns,” say Bungie. The Glaive allows you to perform powerful melee combos, fire projectiles, and deploy a powerful energy shield. There will be new and legacy weapons available later in the year which can be crafted.
