The January 2022 PS Plus games are now live, download links here!

The PlayStation Plus games for January 2022 have been released having been officially announced last week. Here’s the three game you’re getting from the first PlayStation Plus update of the year and links to download them:

(Persona 5 Strikers playable on PS5 via backward compatibility)

Let’s dive into what each game to see what they’re like.

Deep Rock Galactic was originally released in mid-2020 for Xbox One and PC, having had a good stay in Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access. We were thoroughly impressed with the game, saying in our review:

“Ooh, aah, that’s how it always starts, then later there’s running and screaming. Deep Rock Galactic can be deceptively easy going at times, right up until the swarms of bugs come crawling out of the inky darkness to besiege you and your friends. Who knew space dwarf mining could be so fun?”

The space dwarf co-op shooter has some extra bells and whistles compared to the PC and Xbox versions of the game. On PS5, the DualSense‘s touchpad can be used to control the Terrain Scanner tool and the gamepad’s built-in speakers will bark orders at players from Mission Control. Deep Rock Galactic developer Ghost Ship Games has released a trailer to detail these exclusive features:

DIRT 5, meanwhile, launched alongside the new generation of consoles, a more arcade take on the series again to go alongside the more sim-racing spills of DIRT Rally 2.0. In our review, Tom said:

“DIRT 5 strips away the more serious elements of the franchise and puts all its eggs in one, arcade cabinet shaped, basket. At times a riot, in other areas a little repetitive and lacking in finesse, it nevertheless delivers on the concept of an adrenaline-fueled off-road racer. It’s a game that makes you sit forward in your seat and savour the joys of jumping a Dakar Rally Peugeot 3008 over a ravine.”

Last, but by no means least, Persona 5 Strikers continues the story of the sublime Persona 5, but takes on a new form as a musou brawler. Nic had lovely things to say about it when it released early last year.

“Persona 5 Strikers is an excellent welcome back party for the franchise. It takes a formula that is proven to work and takes it to a new place by adding a whole new combat system that allows you to play as the whole team, rather than the main character we’re all used to. This said, and although Persona 5 Strikers is excellent in its own right, there’s enough that’s been stripped back to make this game work that it can’t reach the lofty heights of the original.”

Make sure to grab them all before they are replaced on 2nd February 2022 with the next batch of PlayStation Plus games. Whatever will those games be?
