Saber Interactive has shared some details on the special editions and preorder bonuses available when buying Evil Dead: The Game.

The co-op survival horror game has a release date set for May 13 2022 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Online crossplay between these platforms has now been confirmed.

In Evil Dead: The Game, survivors will work together to keep the forces of evil at bay, gathering the artefacts needed to banish the menacing Kandarian Demon. There’s a cool twist here in that a fifth player can effectively control an army of Deadites, attempting to thwart the four survivors.

Those who preorder Evil Dead: The Game can bag themselves two iconic outfits for series protagonist, Ash Williams. These include S-Mart Employee outfit as well as the Gallant Knight outfit.

If you’re not sure whether to stick with the base game or upgrade to one of the more premium editions, here’s a quick breakdown of what’s included.

  • Standard Edition – only includes the base game (as well as any preorder bonuses).
  • Deluxe Edition – includes the base game and 4 DLC packs.
  • Collector’s Edition – base game, 4 DLC packs, steel book, soundtrack vinyl, t-shirt, art cards, art book, and collector’s box. Also includes an Ash Williams skin designed by horror effects master, Tom Savini.
  • Ultimate Collector’s Edition – includes everything from the Collector’s Edition, plus a full-size replica of the Necronomicon (aka “The Book of the Dead”).

The price of the Collector’s Edition is $129.99 with the (now sold out) Ultimate Collector’s Edition being $199.99. Evil Dead is perhaps best known for its zealous cult following who no doubt leapt at the chance to claim their own Necronomicon, whether they’re gamers or not.

Developed by Boss Team Games, we hope Evil Dead plays as well as it looks. Clearly, a huge amount of passion has gone into recreating memorable characters and locales from the series – we just hope it’s just as entertaining as the films.
