Evil Dead gets a new 40 player Splatter Royale mode ahead of it’s PS Plus release

evil dead: the game review

Evil Dead: The Game has been updated with a brand new forty player ‘Splatter Royale’ mode. In this mode you get to choose a Deadite version of your favourite Survivor or Demon from the game and then use their weapons to try and be the last Deadite standing. The new game mode also brings two new weapons, the long-range Grenade Launcher and the Scythe, deadly for close-range Deadite combat.

Along with the new game mode you can also pick up some new outfits based on the TV show, and a new character,  Ruby Knowby. Ruby is also from the TV show and is played by the Warrior Princess herself, Lucy Lawless. Her character, and the outfits, are part of the Immortal Power DLC Bundle.

Evil Dead: The Games is part of the February PlayStation Plus Essential games line up:

  • Evil Dead: The Game (PS4 | PS5)
  • OlliOlli World (PS4 | PS5)
  • Mafia: Definitive Edition (PS4)
  • Destiny 2: Beyond Light (PS4 | PS5)

Evil Dead: The Game is another take on the asymmetrical multiplayer genre. “Evil Dead fans will love the amount of fan service on offer here, from the painstaking recreation of movie locations to Bruce Campbell’s goofy one-liners,” we said in our 6/10 review. “However, when it comes to raw entertainment value, there’s an imbalance between the forces of good and evil. Playing as the survivors can be fun with friends but lacks the fun or variety of being an evildoer.”

However, the game has been updated frequently since launch with patches and balances so it may be rather more fun to play these days. The Splatter Royale mode certainly looks worth a go if you do have PlayStation Plus.  Evil Dead: The Game and the rest of the titles will be available on February 7th so you only have a few days to grab the January games.
