The February 2023 PlayStation Plus Essential line up has leaked, and it is once again through Dealabs leaker Billbil-kun. HisĀ  leaks have always proven true over the past few months, so there is no real reason to the doubt this line up. The headline of the February 2023 PlayStation Plus Essential l line up is OlliOlli World for PS5 and PS4.

The other games include Mafia Definitive Edition for PS4 and Evil Dead The Game for PS5 and PS4, and the Destiny 2 Beyond Light DLC for PS4 and PS5.

Let’s take a look at the games, starting with probably the worst:

“Evil Dead fans will love the amount of fan service on offer here, from the painstaking recreation of movie locations to Bruce Campbellā€™s goofy one-liners,” we said in our 6/10 review. “However, when it comes to raw entertainment value, thereā€™s an imbalance between the forces of good and evil. Playing as the survivors can be fun with friends but lacks the fun or variety of being an evildoer.”

We did not review Mafia Definitive Edition, but it’s got a score of 76 on Metacritic, so that will be worth a play.

Destiny 2 Beyond Light came out two years ago and introduced The Darkness. No, not the band, a new type of Super that allowed you to freeze enemies.Ā

“Beyond Light isn’t going to change anyone’s mind about Destiny 2,” we wrote in our 8/10 review. “Either you love the weekly grind, the increasingly complex lore, and pushing your mates off a ledge in a Raid, or you don’t. For those who do, there’s a lot to discover and plenty to grind for with the added benefit of the reworked game engine. They, like myself, will no doubt be sinking hundreds of hours into this over the next year. A solid, well executed update to Destiny 2, with even more content on the horizon.”

And finally, the jewel in this month’s PS Plus line up, OlliOlli World, which we scored 8/10. “Behind the chilled out vibes of OlliOlli World’s new art style, happy-go-lucky characters and eccentric customisation, this game takes Roll7’s flow-state side-scrolling skating to new heights,” wrote Stefan. “It’s a tad more welcoming for newcomers, but even OlliOlli 2 veterans will have plenty of new tricks to learn and master through its increasingly wild and challenging levels.”

The games should be out on February 7th, but some regions may replace Mafia due it’s graphic content.

  1. If that’s true (and given the source, it most likely is), it’s a disappointing month.

The usual “game that was already on PS+” thing with Mafia. A sequel to a terrible skateboarding game that was inexplicably liked by lots of people. And DLC for a 5 year old game that they’ll probably take away from you eventually.

Which leaves The Evil Dead as the best thing there. And I’ve already got it and played a lot of it. Don’t skip that one. But do try and play with some friends, or at the very least people who’ll talk while playing. That 6/10 review was just wrong.
