In their statement posted to Twitter, Luminous writes:
“Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us. To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you to experience Frey’s journey this fall.’
Forspoken was last seen at The Game Awards 2021 with the above trailer, which delved into more of the game’s story and characters. Forspoken stars Frey, played by Ella Balinska, who has been transported from New York City to the fantasy realm of Athia, and has to master new magical powers in order to survive. These include things like summoning a shield to stop incoming hits, cloaking to sneak past enemies, and a gun like power to shoot projectiles at enemies. The main antagonists seem to be the rulers of this land, the Tantas, while a corruption called the “Break” corrupts everything that touches it.
Announced as a PlayStation 5 exclusive (though also coming to PC), it’s been promised that Forspoken will make “full use” of all that the PS5 has to offer. It’s still not quite clear what that means, though the game does feature some impressive and expansive feeling traversal mechanics that could be tapping into the PS5’s ultra-speedy SSD. What that means for the minimum requirements on PC isn’t exactly clear either. We can certainly expect that game to make use of the DualSense controller’s haptics and triggers, as well as the Tempest AudioTech Engine for spatial audio.
