SnowRunner PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions launching soon

SnowRunner PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions have been officially announced by Saber Interactive and Focus Home Interactive.

Launching on May 31, 2022, this will be available as a free update for those who currently own a copy of the game on PS4 or Xbox One. All current and future DLC will be compatible, it has been confirmed.

The celebrated sequel to MudRunner is the latest game to offer a free next-gen upgrade. SnowRunner PS5 and Xbox Series X|S editions will offer the following improvements according to an official press release:

With the power of the newest console generation, navigate the massively diverse terrain of SnowRunner’s biomes in up to 4K UHD and 60 FPS. Watch nature and the elements come to life as you spin the wheels across mud, snow, ice and rivers to complete deliveries and explore the open world solo, or with up to 3 friends regardless of what platform they play on thanks to full crossplay support. The time has come to harness revolutionary physics and treacherously gorgeous environments on Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 with added Haptic Feedback support to feel every nuance of terrain under your wheels.

Unlike some upgrades, it sounds as though SnowRunner will offer a new, separate download on new consoles, instead of layering these features onto the existing PS4 and Xbox One versions. Saber Interactive has yet to say if fans will be able to import their save data – given how many hours some drivers have invested, this will likely be decisive factor in whether to upgrade.

When SnowRunner launched almost two years ago, Dom couldn’t help but fall in love with its mix of challenging gameplay and sense of immersion:

Since launch, the sequel has enjoyed a string of updates and expansions (both free and premium) as well as a strong modding scene.
