Hunt Showdown update 1.53 has just dropped on PS4 and Xbox One, with servers going back online. During this brief spell of downtime, developer Crytek patched in a handful of fixes.

No new content has been added in the new Hunt Showdown update. That said, Crytek has shared some details on what’s coming to the game very soon, including new enemies patrolling the Bayou.

In the meantime, here are the latest official patch notes.

Hunt Showdown Update 1.53 Patch Notes | April 28, 2022

  • Fixed a fix to the Traitor’s Moon weapon unlocks not being available after prestiging.
  • Added general stability improvements.
  • Added performance fixes.
  • Other minor bug fixes.

Lucky PC players can now check out new features and content coming to the popular PvPvE battle royale shooter. Patch 1.8.1 is now live and accessible via the test server. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s being previewed (and will likely end up in the full game).

Firstly, there are two new enemy types being patched. The Pistol Grunt will try and clobber hunters with their broken sidearm, letting off a loud gunshot upon impact. Then there’s the Lantern Grunt who carries… a lantern. Depending on whether it’s lit or unlit, a successful attack will set hunters ablaze or create an oil puddle.

Another important change is the removal of Daily and Weekly challenges. These have been replaced by Quests which can be found under the new Summons tab. Resetting every Monday, completing them will earn you special items and stars which can be cashed in for premium currency. Players can choose which two Quests to pursue with the option to add a third by paying Bloodbonds.

Still under testing, there’s no confirmed date for when these changes will make their way into Hunt Showdown. There are also other game-wide improvements include improved gunplay and more immersive audio.

Having just turned four years old, Hunt Showdown is being adapted into a live action series exclusively for free streaming platform, Binge, later this year. That’s not all Crytek has planned for its popular shooter, teasing some pretty big changes and updates coming soon. Hopefully, this includes a beefed up version of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
