These Call of Duty candles smell of the Gulag, Nuketown & Warzone

Candle maker Wick & Skull has revealed their latest video game inspired candle range, with the Call of Duty candles bringing a suitably eccentric range of smells to replace the pong of your gaming corner.

The Call of Duty candles include scent inspired by the Warzone Gulag’s 1v1 ‘Second Chance’, the series’ ever-popular Nuketown map and area, and then just the Warzone Pacific theme in general.

The gulag’s Second Chance candle is meant to smell like “heated duels and second chances”, featuring scents of dark musk, amber and coriander – not quite what I envisaged from reading One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, but I’m sure Wick & Skull has done their research.

That’s followed by Nuketown’s smells of “gunpowder, smoke and total chaos” using the scents of smoke, citrus and ginger, while Pacific is meant to smell like a “tropical vacation with 150 friends”, which apparently means coconut, sandalwood and cedar scents.

Each candle comes in an 8oz tin with a 35 hour burn time, costing $20 each or $57 for a bundle of three.

Wick & Skull also has licensed candles for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands – dark plum, sugar crystals, magical musk – Dead By Daylight, Back 4 Blood and other more generic candles for a Dark Souls-inspired ‘You Died’ candle, ‘Bowsette’ and other gaming tropes. My favourite is ‘Spawn Camper’, which should really just smell of sweat, but actually has marshmallow, chocolate and graham crackers.

Gaming themed candles are becoming a bit of a thing, it seems, thanks in part to the near impossibility of figuring out what to buy for a gamer that’s already got too many gaming headsets, controllers, consoles and a backlog that goes back to the mid-90s. In the past five years, we’ve seen the smells of Crash Bandicoot, Skyrim, Destiny and more brought to life, all far more pleasant than they really have any reason to be, given then inspirations.
