We’re right in the heart of ‘not E3’ week, AKA Summer Game Fest, and last night saw hour after hour of new game trailers, release updates, and a few small (already leaked) surprises. What stood out from the crowd for you? Was it the spider-train? Was it The Last of Us Part 1 remake? Midnight Suns? And if nothing dazzles, there’s plenty more to come over the weekend.
I’ve been greatly enjoying Monster Hunter Rise again, and I stand by the statement that if I had to only play one gaming franchise for the rest of my life it would be Monster Hunter. I’ve also got started with Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, and it’s everything I hoped for, placing you firmly amongst a batch of dear friends from Three Houses.
Nic B played an ungodly amount of Pokémon Go, what with last weekend’s Go Fest taking up all of last weekend. After that though, work got in the way of his fun. Stupid work.
By contrast, NIck P’s week has been spent mostly in Night City (Cyberpunk 2077), cutting around on his motorbike, slicing up people with is Katana. Also, for a change, he’s been playing Dead by Daylight, which remains his go-to game. He says, “There was a new killer released so I have an excuse” but I think we all know there’s no excuse.
Gareth played Remote Life for review. He’s also continued playing MGS5, saying it’s “still excellent”. He also reached Supernatural season 15 as well, tellling us, “it’s not a game but a TV show, but that means I’ve seen around 330 episodes or so, so I wanted to tell someone”. Quite the achievement, I’m sure you’ll agree, especially when MGS5 is a TV show in its own right.
Aran finished off Lost Judgment. He says, “The school stories were much more engaging than the main plot. Now I’m playing Yoku’s Island Express which is the perfect palate cleanser. Going around an island where puzzles are essentially pinball machines”.
We are happy to report that Tuffcub is no longer dying/in hospital so he can play games again. He told us with much glee, “I have played Destiny 2”. I hope you enjoyed this long awaited update.
Steve played a lot of Mario Strikers Battle League for review, and a few other indie titles that will have (p)reviews coming up soon. He has a new addition to his household as well, “I also traded in a ton of old games and have a PS5 to set up. Just in time for the new PS+ setup too”.
Tef ususally goes here. He’s played a dinosaur game, and he saw the dinosaur film too, saying “It’s fine, but it’s absolutely jam packed with fan-service references to the old films. Some are fun, but most are just ‘Oh, of course they did…’ Turn off your brain and it’s an alright dinosaur romp.” He’s also probably done some other things that he’s not allowed to talk about. Self incrimination, NDAs and all that jazz.
What about you? Have you seen the silly dinosaur film? And what have you played?

Just a little Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars on PS3 and Everybody’s Golf on PS4 for me this week, I’ve had a fairly quiet gaming week but I aim to be making up for that this weekend!

Mostly been focused on Netflix since my sub ends tonight but I did try out the Dishonored 2 trial this week. I was recommended it by a colleague as something not open world but far less linear than Metro. I think years of obvious sign posting and inaccessible doors and buildings in games have ruined me! Interesting setup though so I’ll try replaying the levels a few different ways before deciding whether to pick up the full version.
