Ubisoft has announced that its next Assassin’s Creed game will be revealed in September 2022. This news come via an anniversary livestream, celebrating 15 years of stealthy backstabs and Templar trolling.
“Join us this September as we unveil the future of Assassin’s Creed during a special event,” Ubisoft said, teasing at what’s to come later this year. In the meantime, the publisher has laid out a 12-week roadmap leading up to the reveal event with weekly contests, behind-the-scenes content, community activities, and much more.
In the meantime, there’s new content coming to Valhalla as we explore its Discovery Tour expansion, an educational interactive experience. In case you missed it, Assassin’s Creed Origins has also received an update on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, boosting the game’s performance.
The most recent game in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, proved a giant hit as we left Odyssey’s Ancient Greece for war-torn, Viking-era England. Players also travelled to Ireland, France, and the Nine Realms of Norse mythology, assuming the role of Odin in this year’s Dawn of Ragnarok expansion.
What will the next Assassin’s Creed game be? Even before Valhalla launched, fans were already speculating what the series’ next setting could be. It’s by no means an indication of what Ubisoft has in store, though the roadmap below works its way backwards through each mainline entry, finally landing on the original. It’s a long shot though there could be plans to remake the 2007 title in the style of the more recent RPG-inspired entries.

One rumour from earlier this year suggests that a former Valhalla expansion has now grown into its own standalone game, starring Assassin’s brotherhood mentor, Basim.
In terms of setting we recently argued why China would be a great destination for the series. On a more personal note, I’m eager to see some multiplayer integration for the next Assassin’s Creed game. The PvP modes of Brotherhood were some of the best fun I’ve had with the series and, although not perfectly implemented, Unity’s co-op missions were an intriguing diversion, too. Either way, we’ll be keeping a careful eye on the upcoming reveal.
