UPDATE: The PSN is now back online

PSN Down

UPDATE: Everything should be back to normal now.

Oh dear, just in time for my evening gaming session the PSN has gone down. Account management, gaming and social, and the PlayStation Store are all having issues according to Sony’s service status page.

If you’re hoping to play Destiny 2 then there are additional issues.

It’s been a while since we then last PSN down, I remember the good old days of PlayStation 3 when the PSN went down almost every night. Ah, good times.

This will be very annoying for those who have taken advantage of Sony’s newseven-day free trial for PlayStation owners who would like to try out PlayStation Plus Extra or PlayStation Plus Premium. The option is only available to new subscribers – if you currently have PlayStation Plus Essential, you cannot trial the upgrade – but this is an effective way to try out the added game libraries, game streaming and other perks of PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium.

PS Plus Extra Free Trial

You will require a credit card, debit card or PayPal account in order to sign up, and will be committing to a particular rolling subscription term if you do not cancel before the seven day trial is up – per the T&Cs the trial will run until the end of the seventh day, even if you cancel immediately. You can choose which tier – PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium – you would like to subscribe to, and also whether you would like to sign up for monthly, quarterly or annual billing options. In any case, you get seven days free at the start of the subscription.

While you wait for the PSN to get back up why not have a look at some of the reviews on TSA that have gone up recently. We’ve taken a look at the fabulous Stray, tense crime drama As Dusk Falls, and weird Japanese murder mystery AI: The Somnium Files – Nirvana Initiative.
