Insomniac Games and Sony have confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is coming to PlayStation 5 next year, specifically in the fall 2023 release window at the end of the year.

Spider-Man 2 follows on from the events of the 2018 Marvel’s Spider-Man and 2020’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. For this full numbered sequel, Peter Parker and Miles Morales will be combining their forces once more in another original Spider-Man story cooked up by Insomniac.

Marking the announcement, Creative Director Bryan Intihar shared a message on the PS Blog:

“What a year it’s been for PlayStation Studios; here at Insomniac Games we’ve been in absolute awe of the work of our peers. Congrats to everyone on a successful 2022… and here’s to next year being just as exciting as we continue to get Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 ready for release next fall.”

The 2023 launch year has been set since Spider-Man 2 was announced during a State of Play stream in September 2021. We’ve not had any further trailers or significant details since then, but that trailer still gave us plenty to speculate on.

Yup. It’s Venom – who’s to be voiced by Tony Todd. But there’s bound to be tons of other villains and baddies to battle. With such a gallery of potential villains to draw upon, not to mention having two Spider-Man to play as, Insomniac has a lot of possible directions to take the game.

Spider-Man was a great game on PS4 and has been remastered for PS5 alongside the release of Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

We gave Spider-Man: Miles Morales a great 8/10 in our review. “Spider-Man: Miles Morales feels like more of a sequel than it is a stopgap, entangling players within its web of cleverly refined mechanics while delivering some familiar web-slinging thrills,” said Jim. “A heroic technical showcase for PS5 owners picking up their consoles on day one, this meaty side story in the Spider-Man saga has us even more excited than before to see what Insomniac Games have planned next.”
