Hit multiplayer horror game, Dead By Daylight, could be set to lose another of its playable Killers. Rumours have began to circulate following the release of a new test build, suggesting that Leatherface – of Texas Chainsaw Massacre fame – could soon face the axe.

This follows the 2021 departure of the The Demogorgon after DBD’s Stranger Things license expired, which also resulted in the removal of Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington as playable Survivors.

So, what has prompted panic over Bubba leaving Dead By Daylight? With the release of any new test build comes a wave of potential headlines as die-hard fans scour over game data for leaks, rebalances, and changes to the meta. According to multiple sources, the latest PTB makes reference to unlicensed Perk strings for players who haven’t purchased the Leatherface chapter DLC.

Although developer Behaviour Interactive has yet to confirm, this could suggest that Leatherface will soon be removed from sale. However, much like the Stranger Things expansion, items from this DLC will likely be available for those who have already purchased it.

This news comes as we steadily approach a release date for Gun Interactive’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – a video game adaptation of the classic horror flick that touts a similar asymmetric premise to Dead By Daylight. Coincidence?

We recently re-reviewed Dead By Daylight for 2020, bumping up its original score:

Dead By Daylight has evolved into somewhat of a phenomenon, proving that the often maligned games-as-a-service model produces more than just cookie cutter loot shooters. It’s still an acquired taste and a bit rough around the edges though stands out as one of the most unique ongoing multiplayer games of the generation.

Those who currently own a copy of Dead By Daylight on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can upgrade for free on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S respectively, carrying over their progress – here’s how.
