It’s a big, big day of travel for a lot of people as the double bank holiday for Easter kicks in, so I’ve no doubt that there’s a fair few Nintendo Switches and Steam Decks that have been stashed in travel bags. Me, though? I’ve shoved an Xbox Series S in my bag because there’s games to be reviewing!
Building up to this point, the last week has seen me juggling a few daily games, starting with a dash through Halo Infinite’s weekly challenges so I can soon put that battle pass to one side for a couple months, and then folding over to include Meet Your Maker off PS+. It’s an unusual game, but i found myself really enjoying my painstaking approach to raiding other player outposts, and then getting a little silly with some of my own outpost creations.

Presumably a big fan of the whole “zombie Jesus” joke, Gamoc has been playing open world zombie game Days Gone this week – “Turns out the problem with Days Gone (other than stupid time wasting decisions like making you walk very slowly for extended periods of time because they can’t be arsed doing a cutscene) is that all the cool stuff you want to do all the time is kept until the last quarter of the game.” That and a bit of Animal Shelter Simulator, which he’s still plugging away at for a review.
It’s been more of Midnight Suns for Aran, who’s now best buds with Ghost Rider and has ended up in a book club with Blade, of all people. He’s found himself totally invested in all of the side content, he’s no idea if he’s even halfway through the game’s main story.
Nic B’s been “drowning in work” – it’s a good thing he’s not a life guard or this could be quite serious – but he’s been sneaking in the odd five minutes of Marvel Snap here and there, and finding some time after work to speed through Resident Evil 4 on his second run.

Jim’s been similarly busy, and has similarly been getting in Marvel Snap here and there. Aside from that, he’s started on Portal on his Steam Deck – he never finished it on PS3 – and reckons it holds up remarkably well. Now he’s in the mood for more Valve classics, so Half-Life 2, Left 4 Dead, and Team Fortress are all in his download queue.
With all but two extra hard challenges completed, Steve’s taking a break from Resident Evil 4, though he’s sure to be drawn back in with the Mercenaries update. Still, for a change of pace he played Gigantosaurus from PS+, started working his way through Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in preparation for the sequel (which will hopefully improve the map and add much-needed fast travel), and started on the indie pixel Souls-Like Hunt the Night which is challenging but fun.

And Nick P is trying to perfect his S+ Professional speed run on Resident Evil 4, which what he reckons is a staggering 100+ hours in the game already! – “I’ve got the hard part out the way and I’m on the home stretch to the platinum.” Oh, and Marvel Snap as well, as per usual.
That’s us, but what about you? What have you played this past week, and what’s planned for the weekend ahead?

Andrewww
This week, I tried 438 Shibuya Scramble, as it leaves Plus soon, but there was a little too much reading and too little gameplay involved for my taste.
I also continued Amnesia:Rebirth. Well, after excellent SOMA, I’m quite disappointed. There’s some good scares there, but the story seems a mess this far (and I think I’m more than halfway in). Maybe I fell through some plot holes, as I died quite early on, falling into a cave, I respawned in a random spot somewhere else I had never been, in another dimension, had no clue what was going on, and it all seemed quite a mess. And it didn’t get much better since. Later on I fell into a pool, with only one way out, with a glitched monster spawning right there in that passage, and I started to feel the game is maybe broken and all immersion was gone. I’ll continue for a little more, but it’ll be very difficult to turn this around for the better.
