What We Played – The Sinking City 2, LOTR: War in the North & Marvel’s Wolverine

Just when you thought the UK might go up in flames – the physical kind, not the metaphorical kind – we received a deluge containing of all the last few months of sky water in one go. While it is the thought that counts, squeezing water out of carpets for ten hours wasn’t on my agenda yesterday. Still, I’m back to video games this morning, and I’m bouncing between Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave and a bunch of other bits and bobs.

Aran has decided on a digital representation of water instead, and has been playing Lou’s Lagoon for review. More details about that next week.

While he’s got to keep things secretive for his review of [redacted], which isn’t the actual name of the game in case you were wondering, Gareth has had Wall World and a bit of Spider-Man 2 on the go.

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North - Legacy Edition

Jim put Expedition 33 on the backburner so that he could get stuck in with The Lord of the Rings: War in the North – Legacy Edition. He says, “It’s not a particularly deep or diverse action RPG though I’ve had a great time with it so far, having been reminded of those great hack n’ slash dungeon crawlers of the early 2000s.”

Miguel finally played through all of Ace Combat 7 and its DLC missions. He also started playing Mortal Shell II and have been dabbling with Zenless Zone Zero and a bunch of Big Walk!

Sadly, Ade and Laura have been playing “drive 7 hours down to Norwich for a funeral”. Laura said, “Norwich has been pretty much rainless, so we’re wondering whether we’re queuing back on the M6 just to return to flooding everywhere.”

Meanwhile, Steve has played Beast of Reincarnation, enjoyed The Sinking City 2 and began looking at Therapods for review. I’m currently downloading Mortal Shell II as I loved the beta demo and look forward to immersing myself in what I’ve seen described as ‘the world of the best black metal album you’ve never heard’ which is just poetry to me.”

Let’s start Tuffcub’s check in with a short, and angry, film review. “What really sucks is the new(ish) Silent Hill film, which finally landed in the UK on Prime Video having skipped cinemas entirely. I really wanted to see it as it’s but the same Director as the first Silent Hill film that, while not perfect, was a good romp. The new one, Return to Silent Hill, is an absolute f*%$£*g mess of a film and probably the worst thing I have seen in a very long time. So to cleanse my mind, and as BF had not seen it, we watched Captain LaserHawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. Absolutely fab, the world needs more violently killing off beloved characters from cute games, Assassin’s Creed frogs, Rayman swearing, drinking and snorting coke, and taking the piss out of players of online shooters. It’s nigh on perfect.”

Alongside his movie watching, he did at least squeeze some gaming in, saying, “I played more John Carpenter’s Toxic Commandos cos it’s stupid fun.”

And finally, Tef’s had an exciting week, getting to check out Marvel’s Wolverine for a couple hours. It’s a gory and slick take on the gruff Canadian hero, and he enjoyed carving his way through Trask goons and Hand ninjas. He’s also dabbled with a bit of 33 Immortals, as usual, and made an overdue start on the Pokémon Pokopia DLC.

Now then, what have you played? Are you enjoying the cooler, damper weather?
