Marvel’s Spider-Man and many more games leaving PlayStation Plus

spider-man leaving playstation plus

Marvel’s Spider-Man will be leaving the PlayStation Plus game catalogue, Sony has confirmed. The power-selling, web-slinging PlayStation exclusive will be yanked from the PS Plus line up on May 15th along with 30 other titles. It’s not all bad news with hits such as Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Riders Republic, and DOOM Eternal arriving in April.

Much like Xbox Game Pass, the PlayStation Plus library regular changes with each month, bringing news games to the service while removing others. While not entirely surprising, it’s bound to disappoint some, Spider-Man’s removal seeming like an odd choice considering it’s a first-party exclusive.

Resident Evil and NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 will also be getting the chop along with a number of Deep Silver titles. Following the recent exodus of Metro Exodus, the first two remastered Metro will also be leaving. You can find the full list below – you have until May 15th to play them.

PlayStation Plus tiers explained

The PlayStation Plus relaunch rolled out around the world in June 2022, transforming the PS Plus we once knew into a three tiered subscription service that bundles in and expands what was once PlayStation Now. The classic PS Plus is now called PS Plus Essential, giving access to online multiplayer gaming, cloud save backups, exclusive offers and at least 2 free monthly games. PS Plus Extra then adds a catalogue of PS4 and PS5 games into the mix, while PS Plus Deluxe and Premium (depending on your region) adds older PS2, PS1 and PSP game emulation, and game streaming for PS3 and other titles.

  1. I find it an odd choice by Sony to kick Spider-Man from Plus, but I’ve recently played through it, so just got away this time.
Among the other games leaving, I’ll have a look at Last day of June and Relicta, maybe also Kona, they look the most interesting ones for me (having played through RE and Virginia and some of these Metro games before).
And, Kena is a welcome addition, it’s been on my wishlist for a long time already.
