CLUTCH shows off some motorsport pedigree in gameplay reveal

A few days ago, Maverick Games revealed its open world racing and driving game Clutch with a look at the customisation and an introduction to the story. During Summer Games Fest, Maverick Games has given even more details about Clutch including where it is set, more details about the story, and a look at its gameplay.

Clutch’s open world is set in the region of the French Riviera and Monaco, which has a varied amount of locales from city streets to long winding roads cutting through the countryside. Clutch does have a story focus which follows siblings, who are both competing in the R1K racing series. The R1K racing series is the professional side with tracks, sponsors, and a hundred years of history. But there is street racing to be had too, and that is where the Midnight Collective comes in. Here it is all about speed and getting the full enjoyment from your car, without worrying about that professional reputation. However, the Midnight Collective does have a seedy underbelly which drags the siblings in.

Clutch features an impressive amount of customisation and visuals through Maverick’s custom Unreal Engine 5. Cars will show wear both externally and internally, to show they have been driven around instead of looking showroom perfect. Players can customise the exterior and interiors of the car, right down to the colour of the cups in the cup holder, rearview mirror hangings, items on the dashboard, and clothing on the seat.

Clutch will be coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series XS with a release window of Spring 2027.
