The hit cosy Switch 2 game Pokémon Pokopia is getting a bit bigger in August, with a free update that will allow you to explore under the sea, and the start of a three-part paid Expansion Pass that will add a new village to the game.
Underwater gameplay using the new Dive ability looks to be rather similar to the above ground, as you can build new buildings and homes under the waves.
This will launch at the same time as the first part of the Expansion Pass, with the new map Bubbly Basin arriving in August 2026.
The second two parts the Expansion Pass will see “additional new features” coming in late 2026, and then another “additional new town” at some time in 2027.
We loved Pokémon Pokopia when it launched earlier this year, and I said in our Pokémon Pokopia Review, “Pokémon Pokopia is almost exactly as cosy as we hoped. It’s more active and goal-oriented than Animal Crossing, but there’s still a laid-back, charming atmosphere to rebuilding the world and making it a new home for yourself and all the other Pokémon left behind.”
