A new trailer has been released for 1666: Amsterdam, exploring the game’s two main characters, their motivations and how they’ve been bonded across the centuries.
Noa is the character native to 1666, a woman who has been raised to be the heir to the Zaindaris lineage of witches, tasked with reclaiming the ancient corrupting magic known as Nux from characters known as Originals. She will have various ancient magic-based tools at her disposal, but she also has a bond with a man from 333 years in the future.
Aaron is a regular teacher, but then he goes on holiday with his girlfriend, who turns him into a cat and send him back in time. His agility will come in very useful to get around and into places that he really shouldn’t.
A lot of this will be known and familiar to people who played the prologue that was released during Summer Game Fest, a purely narrative intro to the game, though the trailer does flesh out some of the details and give more snippets of gameplay.
The game comes from Panache, the studio founded by Patrice Désilets, the creative director of the first two Assassin’s Creed games. You can definitely see he hasn’t lost his style of twin time period storytelling.
In other news, we’ve recently been hands on with more of the game in the city that lends it its name, though you’ll have to wait a little while before we can share our impressions and more info.
