Ubisoft have just shown off Rayman Legends for Wii U at their E3 press conference. It looks to be a Wii U exclusive, or have some heavy Wii U exclusive features, including a playable character that’s exclusive to the console’s GamePad.
That character is Murphy – Rayman’s little green, flying friend that we’ve seen in previous instalments in the series. He is controlled with the touch screen exclusively and can help the other players progress through the levels by cutting ropes, rotating obstacles amongst other things.
It looks like it could be a lot of fun, though, and perhaps even better than last year’s brilliant Origins; the art style appears to have been revamped somewhat, with a more pseudo-3D approach, though it still remains brilliantly refreshing visually.
It appears to be a very social focused game, great for local multiplayer sessions. They even showed a rhythm-like level where, as two players made their way through the fast-paced platforming with other controllers, Murphy’s player touched the screen and hit certain sections to play music, so that the other could succeed.
Rayman Legends supports up to five players and is confirmed for a Wii U release.

I thought it was said that Murphy could also be controlled with a Wii Remote. But I might’ve misunderstood.

No, just tablet we’re sure. It might have been because they said you could use the Wii Remote for playing too, but just for the normal players I think :)

Sounds cracking.

Hopefully Vita support or something…

This has been confirmed as WiiU exclusive.
That’s the way to launch a console.
I’m disappointed that I can’t have this on Vita though. :(

What? Noooooooooooo! I wanted to platinum that games… on my PS3 or at least Vita.
They probably want to play it safe and grab that exclusive deal money up front in case the sales don’t meet expectations again… Now I have to buy a Wii U, no matter what… Damn you Nintendo and Ubi!

Well guess I won’t be buying the next Rayman then :(.

Shame, I really wanted to play this game. Not enough to buy a new system though.

That looked brilliant!!
