Apologies for not having much to tell you about this. It’s kind of flown under the radar for many but the fact that Valve was showing Portal 2 working with Move at E3 was interesting enough. Now this video of the tech demo is out and it looks breathtakingly good.
At present, it is just a tech demo made to show off but there is DLC in the pipeline so these mechanics and ideas should all end up making an appearance. There are some fantastic ideas in there, like depth sensitivity and rotation awareness. You should also note that the guys showing it mention that they basically made middleware that allows Valve’s Source Engine to recognise Move, so this has potentially much larger connotations. I might even unpack my Move equipment in anticipation.

Move middleware means we could one day see Move working with a PC for Portal?
Make it happen!

EPIC FAILURE.

“man, why aren’t people talking about this?”
Clearly he doesn’t understand how the gaming industry works. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
That’s why everyone is talking about Wii-U, because Nintendo are bankrolling them to.
The Lone Steven
Or Peter was making fun of the fact that the Move has had little to no support for the past few years and is only now getting more support. ;)
I’m pretty sure he does know how the industry works. So people can’t be talking about the Wii U despite it being a next gen console? :O
cc_star
If Nintendo were spending $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ they’d have hired someone to present their keynote for them.
Do you really think some DLC will get equal coverage to a whole new console, new control system & 23 games?

Looking forward to this, then I remembered I’d traded my PS3 copy just as soon as I’d redeemed my included Steam copy. Might have to re-buy it, this looks awesome, a match made in heaven.

Isn’t that the line that Microsoft would like you to believe.
However back in the real world, pay attention to how many games boot up with the Move warning screen, and I would guestimate it to be about 50% of my games have Move support or have patched to be Move support.
The Lone Steven
And that was only recently. The Move had little to no support after it’s release and is generally considered to be dead. It seems that Sony has only just realised that they have actually released it and are trying to support it in order to stop it from bombing.
Also, stop being a fanboy.
zakwhorules
Damn that looks like so much fun!
Why can’t i just do that with my mouse?
Youles
Shit, I might actually have to use my Move controllers.
GhostViper
This looks great. Good guy Valve.
SavageOranges
This looks great. Dusting off the move right now. Is it just me though, or could the level editor potentially work really well with the Move?
revilo13
Awesome. All this needs now is a Portal Gun peripheral to put the move controller into and you got yourself a usable (sort of) portal gun XD
psychobudgie
I’ll buy that for a dollar!
rossthebassist
OMG! Forget the sharpshooter, dude! thats a awsome idea! get that prototyped and send it to valve! a physical product to support the DLC, they would lap it up!
cc_star
Hell yeah!
gaffers101
Cool, I’ve got Portal 2 on my Lovefilm list, I hope the DLC for the Move will be available soon.
rossthebassist
And yet, the SCEA conferance gave us wonderbook? This would have got people talking about move if they got valve on stage and show this off and Counterstrike :GO instead of wonderbook…. Sony would have squashed the competition.
Jakster123x
Damn, just deleted the game data for Portal 2. I guess i can re-install it.
Tuffcub
So.. they lied then?

TSBonyman
I suppose they had an exclusive deal with Razer at the time. And they probably discovered new gameplay ideas using Razer’s tech which will now benefit the Move version.
But yes, they probably lied ;)
Cutter.T
Well actually, the Razer tech isn’t selling that well, but they developed the PC levels which could be used with it, so Razer is basically porting the levels they made for their own controllers to the ps3 so they can earn some more cash.
Kevling
I think we can safely say that 15 months ago, Portal 2 did not support Move.
fattyuk
hmmm the cake or move is a lie??
The Lone Steven
The cake actually existed, but i ate it. As for the Move. What’s a Move? :p
Mr_writer
Not really the DLC will support move but at the moment the main game doesn’t. Plus wasn’t that before the launch? He didn’t say nothing about not ever patching it in ;)
I wouldn’t be surprised if they did patch it in at some point if the DLC is popular they may be using it to gage interest.
