UK Games Chart: 11/06/12

Ghost Recon Future Soldier is holding on to the prime position, despite sales falling by 42 per cent. Perhaps its reign at the top – a feat few have managed this year – is largely due to a lack of new releases. That said, keeping Rockstar’s excellent Max Payne 3 in second place is quite an achievement for Ubisoft’s shooter.

FIFA 12 makes a surge back up the charts, probably due to proceedings kicking off in Poland and Ukraine this week. Battlefield 3 also storms back up the list, although reasons for that are less clear.

Game of Thrones is a new entry at number six, probably helped by lower prices at retail. We’ll have a full review on the way as soon as we can but I recommend you don’t let the chart position fool you – it’s not very good.

Here’s the top twenty:

  1. TOM CLANCY’S GHOST RECON: FUTURE SOLDIER – UBISOFT
  2. MAX PAYNE 3 – TAKE 2
  3. FIFA 12 – ELECTRONIC ARTS
  4. BATTLEFIELD 3 – ELECTRONIC ARTS

  1. Huh, haven’t looked at these in months. Glad to see Dragon’s Dogma and Saints Row still in there. But whaaaat?! GT5 still hanging on in there?! Still arguing with myself on whether to buy it…

  2. GT5 at 20? thats a bit of a random one.

    • Cheap as chips platinum version :P
Good to see it still being purchased though!

      • Yeah very good to see it on the list :) Would have played it a lot more but F1 2011 came along.

  3. Some formatting issues for me. The chart numbers are positioned left off the actual centred white pane. Running Chrome by the way. Hope this helps.

    • Me too. A symptom of the new design, I assume. I’ll point it out and it’ll be added to the snag list.

  4. Wow I don’t feel like much of a gamer right now, I only own one of those games lol!

    • I feel worse, I don’t even own one of them lol

      • Will be picking up Max Payne though.

      • You should, its epic :)

      • Pick up… Mario and Skylanders then you’ll be a nu-gamer :D

  5. Battlefield 3 also storms back up the list, although reasons for that are less clear.

surely that’s due to close quarters and premium releasing?

    • Yep, it’ll no doubt be the premium & all their sweet promises of DLC – Plus friends telling friends to buy & become premium etc. I suspect they have gotten themselves a nice little earler there.

Actually that said, i think i recall seing it reduced somewhere sometime last week – No idea where or how much for though, as i don’t tend to pay attention to games i already own that have been out a while.

  6. What format is this chart for? Or is it all formats?

  7. I’ve played most of these, FIFA still third just goes to show does’t it. Even though I despise that generic, lifeless game you have to hand it to them at EA, it sells. I wan’t t try Dragon’s Dogma, I’ve read about some of the social components of the game and it sounds interesing, be nice if somebody on here could give me a little verdict of their own maybe? Max Payne deserves to be first if you ask me. I think Ghost Recon is probably selling more because of its genre and simularity to other FPS games like CoD. I have both games and have to say Max Payne is my preffered choice. I’m very tempted to pick up FIFA Street, I love my futsal.
