Santa Monica Spotlight God of War Multiplayer Boss

Like it or not, the next instalment of Santa Monica’s Grecian gore-fest, God of War: Ascension, will feature competitive multiplayer. The series’ foray into online gaming debuted with a blockbuster trailer, depicting two teams going head to head in order to slay a creature of colossal proportions.

That mythological beast is Polyphemus, the one-eyed son of Poseidon and one of the franchises’ largest adversaries. Over at the official PlayStation blog, Sony has spotlighted the tormented Titan with a slew of concept art and screens as well as an interview with artist Izzy Medrano.

Detailing the design process and development of Polyphemus, Izzy has lent his talents to other games and properties including God of War III, Guitar Hero III, and Magic: The gathering.

  1. I’m getting more and more excited about this game. It looks better than GoW 3 for some reason.

  2. Currently playing through Ghost of Sparta on the Vita, so my mind is in GoW-land. This game looks fantastic, I’m still impressed by the graphics and detail from the E3 showing, even the NPC people running away look better than most games protagonists. And the fact that this game is set before Kratos became the God of War interests me.

I’m impressed they actually used a character from the lore, as I thought it was just some big cyclopian monster. I wonder if he’ll appear in the campaign.

They should make an HD remake of GoW Betrayal.

  3. love GOW roll on feb next year.

  4. But will we have to start calling it Lag Of War due to the massive boss and the amount of players trying to kill said boss?

I wonder if this is the only one or if they have a ton of bosses for every level in the MP.

    • I seriously doubt any lag; see MAG, Uncharted 2&3 and both Killzone games for examples of complex situations executed at 30Fps.

  5. I know I’m going hate this GoW due to the fact MP going ruin my platinum. I platinumed all GoW apart from one but I will get to that soon when I’m not easily pissed by the Gods challenges

  6. You say like it or not, eh?
    Well I like it! XD
(Though, unfortunately quite a lot of YouTube commenters don’t, and I found out the hard way, believe me :P).

  7. Looking forward to this love a bit of god of war quality gameage. :)

  8. Wasn’t this boss shown in the first multiplayer video they released months ago?
