David Cage, the CEO and founder of Quantic Dream will be giving the keynote address at the European Games Developers Conference next month. The speech, entitled “Writing Interactive Narrative for a Mature Audience”, might sound a little bit dry but when the man giving the lecture is the head of a company responsible for Fahrenheit and the upcoming Heavy Rain you will see that it could be a bit more interesting than first impressions suggest.
I have recently started my first ever playthrough of Fahrenheit in anticipation of Heavy Rain and whilst initially sceptical of the concept I have to admit that I am rapidly warming to the mechanics and the engaging and mysterious storyline.
Other speakers at the European developer’s get-together include Cevat Yerli (CEO, Crytek) who will be talking about graphics and Mattias Myllyrinne (MD, Remedy) who will talk about creating new IP. It looks like a very interesting lineup of some of Europe’s greatest development minds. The conference runs from the 17th to the 19th August as part of the hullaballoo surrounding Gamescom.
