This week sees the release of some of that lovely Skyrim DLC that PS3 owners have been waiting so patiently (or not) for. Dragonborn will arrive on the PSN in North America and English-speaking parts of the PAL regions (EU, AUS and NZ) as part of this week’s PSN Store update, with Hearthfire and Dawnguard arriving over the following two weeks.
Those staggered releases will be welcomed to PSN with a 50 per cent discount for the first week they’re on sale. That means discounts from £12.99 to £6.49 for Dragonborn and Dawnguard, with the less substantial Hearthfire dropping from £3.99 to £1.99. PS3 owners had assumed that this discount, announced on the Bethesda Blog, was by way of an apology for taking so long to get the DLC to them. That’s not the case.
Microsoft mouthpiece, Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, has disclosed via his company blog that those 360 owners yet to buy into the epic fantasy game’s DLC will also see a nice 50 per cent discount between the 19th and 25th of February. That puts the more substantial Dragonborn and Dawnguard DLC packs at 800MSP (roughly £6.80) and Hearthfire at 200MSP (roughly £1.70).
Tardy Xbox 360 owners will also get the chance to partake in discounted DLC for Bethesda’s other take on the Elder Scrolls universe, Oblivion, with Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles DLC available at a 50 per cent discount too.

Well, that’s very nice for 360 owners but weren’t Bethesda trying to reach out to ps3 owners exclusively as they were the ones badly treated. A bit puzzled!
Tuffcub
Either that or Microsoft used strong arm tactics to force the Xbox DLC to be on sale at the same time.

Probably nothing like the following took place.
Bethesda exec: Sorry we can’t hold the dlc back from ps3 any longer as they might find out about our arrangement.
Microsoft exec: What? What about our Golden Incentive Program for loyal partners?
bethesda exec : erm, we spent it… funny story actually – the whole company went a bit crazy maxing out our bots in Dead Space 3..
Microsoft exec: What? All of it?. right then, we’ll be having a fecking discount matey.
Bethesda exec: Oh alright then.

Haha! :D

I’m glad it’s almost here! I had a great time playing Skyrim when it first came out.

There’s only 1 thing for it.
PS3 exclusive horse armour. For free. Plus a 50% discount. That makes it even better value than free.
Only then will everyone be happy.

1st person view while mounted would be nice, it looked & worked great in oblivion, was extremely surprised to see it removed in Skyrim.
Xbox discount does make it feel less apologetic from the dev, but we’ve got it now & it’s cheap, i’m happy with the outcome. I once thought we’d never experience the new content, chuffed to put it mildly.

My enthusiasm to play the dlc, doesn’t make this any less an insult to injury. (afterthought)
I won’t dwell on it, as it annoys me alot & will just focus on enjoying the dlc.

Not worth a carrot now.It would of found better use as a tea coaster in scee’s office. That’s probably where it’s been for this long. The least they could of done was to keep xbox’s discount held back for a week until psn had theirs.A-holes.

This is actually pretty shitty. I’m assuming Microsoft are involved but Bethesda’s PS3 deal is practically pointless now.
yiddo
Only the PS3 DLC should have had this discount. At least for a few months anyway. Microsoft must be throwing Bethesda some fat cheques.

So not only are Xbox owners getting our “apology” but they’re getting them slightly cheaper than us PS3 owners. Fail.

I don’t get this type of stuff. If it is anything to do with Microsoft it’s stupid. It doesn’t make me mad with Sony or make me want to go and get an Xbox it just makes me dislike Bethesda and Microsoft. I understand platform exclusive games etc but stuff like this is pointless imo.

Will TSA review the performance of the new PS3 patch and DLC?
I’ve always been in interested in getting Skyrim for the PS3 but the countless documented issues put me off, coupled with the horrendous performance of FNV Ultimate that I rented. Now that I sold the gaming PC I built, I’d like to revisit Skyrim but I’m not all that trusting of Bethesda, especially given the state the PS3 version shipped in…
Not to mention the inevitable GotY edition would be cheaper than purchasing the seperate DLC…if it even comes to PS3, of course.
