Sure, you’re probably all still bathing in the post-coital glow of your passionate throes with the Gran Turismo 6 announcement. But don’t be so hasty to settle for that familiar, loving embrace of Polyphony Digital’s retentive labour of love. Go on, get a little bit dirty for DriveClub.
Evolution Studio’s contribution to the PlayStation 4 reveal event in February might have had a little too much obsessive virtual leather fondling, if such a thing is possible, but it also served to demonstrate something important: they care about details in their racer, and you will too.
Everything we’ve heard so far of DriveClub has been in service of the fact that Evolution Studios don’t just want to make the PlayStation brand’s newest exclusive racing game good, they want to make it right. There’s only so much we can discern from static screenshots, of course, and we can’t account for the veracity of these images at all – they were dumped without explanation on AGB – but we like what we see so far.

Gran Turismo-esque stunning screenshots.
Probably taken from replays if they are in game?
PS4 surely isn’t capable of graphics like THAT while racing (at least not on an early title anyway)?

Well there’s not really a lot going on in those scenes, so I don’t see why the PS4 wouldn’t be able to do something like this?
I mean, we’ve seen what Killzone Shadow Fall is capable of, and that’s immediately a lot busier looking than this is.

Seriously, the console is not even out and you are saying what it can and what not? I would say that if the PS4 wont be able to deliver such visuals in gameplay, then it’s not worth buying.

The second, fifth and eighth shots definitely aren’t gameplay, the camera is pointing the wrong way.
We’re all familiar with Gran Turismo’s habit of having replays and photo mode look much better than the actual racing (which doesn’t look bad itself, does it?), I felt it was a decent question to ask.
And finally, if graphics were to be the major improvement of PS4 it wouldn’t be worth buying. As usual, it’ll be what’s possible in terms of in game physics which provides the real technical difference, and gameplay which will actually make it worth buying.
The Avenger
True but with the PS4’s capabilities there is no reason why it shouldn’t be capable of what you see. Remember GT5 is probably the best looking racer around and something which is heavily optimized for PS3 hardware. In comparison they shouldn’t have to skim with Ps4 because it will be capable of 16+ cars @ 1080p @ 30-60fps. I say that because 8 cores is a lot of power and versatility and the GDDR5 tech allows (apparently) a large amount of post processing capability.

Project Car is way ahead of GT5 already and will probably still overshadow GT6 if you run it on max settings on a beast of a PC. Just saying…

I think the pictures will have been taken using the “Share” button feature, which in effect is really a pause button similar to pausing a replay in GT5 for photo mode.
Effects have been applied to some of those pictures that are very similar to those I use in GT5 photo mode that need to be applied during picture set up (or pause)…….
Shutter speed has been set for realistic movement (1/60 – 1/8000 with GT5’s camera) that can be seen with the wheels in motion look.
There’s been depth of field applied to a few of those pictures so that the focus is the foreground subject car(s) and slightly blurred out background ( F 1.0 – F 45.0 with GT5’s camera).
There is also some twiddling with Exposure value or brightness ( -5.0 – +5.0 with GT5’s camera)
Summing up, gameplay pictures but paused using the “Share” button to apply said effects……not too much unlike a replay. Nice snaps :P

That looks really good!!! This holiday season i am gonna be really busy with gt6 and drive club and killzone…;)

Snap!

I’m really excited for Drive Club. I hope they can deliver such graphics during gameplay and not just during replays.
Comparing the few screen I’ve seen of DC’s and GT6’s car interior rendering, I must say DC’s interiors look much more realistic. The one I’ve seen from GT6 just has a fake, sterile feel to it.

If we are thinking of the same GT6 interior shot then I know what you mean. I thought it looked dreadful and not life-like in any way.
KeRaSh
I’m glad I’m not the only one. Since it’s the only one I’ve seen so far, I’m pretty sure we’re talking about the same one.
Bilbo_bobbins
Wow, I have to say I’m more WOWED by those screen shots than any I’ve seen for GT in the past. If some of those are from in game, which they look like they are then bloody hell.
boeboe
Look at the reflection in the windscreen on the R8 interior shot…stunning! Looks so natural

Roll on E3 so we can find out a lot more info on the game.
Broonba
Comparing these shots to GT6 is hardly fair as these shots are from PS4 and GT6 is on PS3…………just saying :p
Racemaniac
Doesn’t appear to be any sort of free roam world which is a shame as those environments look fantastic!
