Beautiful 60FPS, 1080p Gran Turismo 6 Intro Footage

An extended look at GT6’s intro sequence (the previous trailer was much shorter) has appeared.

Gran Turismo 6 was last week confirmed for PS3 – with 1,200 cars and 71 track layouts, a lingering look at one of which is shown at the end of the video – although a PS4 version isn’t out of the question which is nice given the PS4’s lack of backwards compatibility.

A 60fps (YouTube doesn’t go that high) is available here.

  1. Looks really cool. However, I’m not sure whether I’m ready for this, have to catch up with GT5 first, where I’m only at 14%. And as I still have to go through quite a backlog for my PS3 before the PS4 comes out, I hope there will be a PS4 version…

  2. Nice intro movie, but I shall still be avoiding any hype trains until this has its doors blown wide open. GT5 was great and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it didn’t deliver as much as it could, no – should, have for me.
It sounds like they are heading the right direction though, I just hope 1,200 cars are all “premium” models though.

    • It wont have 1200 premiums, they take months to do one car. Its been confirmed there will be standards but slightly improved visuals and you can upgrade and add parts to them.

  3. Looks silky smooth as always, hopefully they’ll have learned from the mistakes made in GT5 (I never played it, but heard about some of the design choices that hinder the gameplay) and bring out more great car content. Whenever I get round to the GT games this generation (Will likely be a few years yet) it’ll keep me busy until I’m ready to move onto PS4 (That this rate, 3 years after release! :P )

  4. Those are some beautifully smooth shadows and appealingly non-repetitive looking road textures. Hopefully it wasn’t my imagination but the few trees seemed less like cardboard cut-outs slotted together at 90 degrees too. It’s looking great, no doubt the gameplay will be the same as always, good stuff. If Polyphony can shove out a PS4 version at launch then I think everyone will be singing their praises, I can’t see them making any promises yet though :)

    • The original MotorStorm had those slotted bushes, but they rotated as you went past so they never appeared as such, until you paused it and moved the camera around…

      Good old MotorStorm.

      • Brilliant! I wonder when we’ll see forests of trees with individualy rendered leaves? We can’t be many years away. Individual leaves with individual caterpillars and individual woodlice, doing little individual insect poohs after nibbling individual holes. That’s my games console vision!

  5. W!O!W! :P :P :P I wasn’t really hyped for another this Gen racer but i MUST buy this :P Well i have got GT,GT2,GT3,GT4&GT5…so i can’t miss out in getting GT6 LoL:D

    • What about the prologues and GT Concept, and GTHD… you must complete your collection… that’s if you had GTHD before it got pulled.

  6. Thats all very nice and all but its not actual gameplay footage is it?

  7. Where is that place with the bridge?

  8. Seeing as GT6 is a PS3 release, I hope the PS4 will get something like GTHD, a small game (1 track and 20 cars if I remember rightly) to tease what PD can do on the platform.

  9. I think that’s the first time I’ve been underwhelmed by a GT video in the entire series.

I wish I could explain why, I’m just really not quite sure why it is.

    • They seem to specialise in sucking the atmosphere and soul out of some of the trailers. They did in this one. Sure, it’s car-porn in many ways but just like the female variety you can often see something and think “meh” to it all. There’s nothing visceral or real about it.

However, I’d like to think, from a technical standpoint, that what’s in the video is near the target of what the PS4 could bash out in-game. That’d be lovely. “Here’s your intro video for the PS3. By the way… it’s the in-game PS4 quality!” Great advertising if they ever dare do such a thing. :-)

  10. Wonder if the GT5 garage is compatible with the new engined GT6, I’m hoping that the cars are non-transferable, I think It’d be good to build up again from scratch winning prize cars along the way and scraping enough credits for a worthy car.
Nice video, looking forward to winning/buying some of those newly introduced cars!

    • Yeah, not bothered if the cars are transferable. If they are I won’t transfer any until I’ve unlocked all car classes and got all cups/trophies.

      • Indeed, same plan but I don’t think I’d transfer any cars that are available as prizes or for purchase in GT6. I’d imagine that every car from GT5 will be available for pick up in GT6 anyway so that’ll be a grand total of zero transfers :P
