Guerilla Games has announced the first expansion pack for Killzone Shadow Fall’s multiplayer, and it brings with it a new class called The Insurgent. This Insurgent Pack is set to be releasing in April with the current price point being set at €9.99, which is likely to be the same or similar figure in the UK. Season Pass holders will get the DLC for free. The full details of what the Insurgent Pack contains are below.
- The Insurgent – a brand new class with two unique abilities: Hack and Steal.
- The insurgent starts with just a pistol and his wits about him. As vulnerable as he is, he can slowly build up his arsenal in the game by using [Steal] to steal weapons from downed enemies, which enables him to use those weapons throughout the game, even if he falls in combat. By using [Hack] he can change enemy ground automata into friendlies, turning the tide of battle quite swiftly.
- Three new abilities – The Scout, Support and Assault also get additional abilities
- E-Pulse emitter – a deployable beacon that sends out an e-pulse making it difficult for enemy units to install automata in that area
- Tactical Echo emitter – a deployable beacon that send out a Tactical Echo from a fixed location making the area hard to infiltrate by hidden enemy units
- Guard Drone – The Assault gets a stationary Buddy drone; deploy it in one place and it guards the location from a ground level.
- Three new weapons – Welcome old friends and new with this pack of weapons for the Scout, Assault and Support:
- M82 – the classic assault rifle of choice from Killzone 2 and 3 is back!
- L512 SMG Pistol – this amazing machine pistol makes your tactical secondary weapon of choice that much more punch
- Sta14 Rifle – The sniper rifle of many battles past adds to your long distance sniping arsenal.
- New single player Elite Mode – The nightmarish difficulty of Elite Mode will test the hardest of warriors
- Three lives, Hard difficulty, and the Shadowfall campaign to test your mettle.
- New online collectibles – Find the online collectibles crates in game for rewards
- A limited set of collectible crates will spawn only for Insurgent Expansion holders, one per match for a limited time. Collect one and earn extra points in game, collect more and stand to win rewards in game.
- Insurgent Personalisation Pack –
- 1 OWL Skin
- 3 Spotlight Moves
- 1 voice-over pack containing HGH and VSA battle chatter voices
This week Killzone Shadow Fall’s multiplayer is freely available to everyone who owns a PS4, in a way to showcase the game and the two new maps that went live this week. Those maps are The Cruiser and The Hangar locations, areas from the game’s single player campaign.

Awesome! That Elite Mode sounds very challenging… I accept.

Right. I’m buying the season pass.

Will dlc owners be put with the same players as standard players? Even though I won’t be buying the dlc or season pass, I’d rather they not fragment the already small player base. Giving maps away for free was a great idea.

Returned to Killzone single player tonight after a long break. Just did the level with the hijacked trains and then the Helghast slums. Actually amazing! Really exciting! :-)

I took ages to get going with the SP as the first level was not great and I had issues with the objective not being clear, once it was patched I went back to it and loved the game. There was some frustrating moments and some truly amazing bits of game. The only real gripe I had was the falling / flying sections, I just felt they were all a bit samey and it was them showing off there new toy more than good gaming.
I am not sure why it got such bad reviews, OK the story was a bit limp but I have found that with most of the KZ games I have played.

Might give the new maps a go. I really enjoyed the multiplayer but stopped once I got to 400 challenges.

I don’t think KZ got the praise it actually deserved. A solid SP game but for me the MP is awesome. I think KZ s one of those easy games to knock. Ok, they could have done without the frustrating freefall sections but complaints about excessive lens flare and the game not holding your hand to get through certain parts would been praised in other games. I’ll be buying this dlc on day one.

It’s strange isn’t it. I loved the KZ2 and KZ3 I got bored of, but KZSF MP to me just doesn’t work. I have tried and tried to get on with it, but I find it way too clunky. THe maps are not big enough and littered with stuff that isn’t needed, and I actually miss trying to level up too.
Don’t get me wrong the SP is amazing, I loved it, and the graphics look fantastic, but the MP this time round, just hasn’t got it for me.

Same here… Didn’t mind KZ2 multiplayer, played a tiny bit of 3 which got boring and just couldn’t get into KZSF at all from the little I played of it and the maps seemed too compact. I Didn’t seem to have any element of care in the form of if I was killed or got a kill I didn’t give a damn – whereas, every single kill in BF games brings a little smile to my face, & when I get killed & I haven’t got a mic plugged in… I go absolutely ballistic and make it my life long ambition to hunt whoever it was down.

I am glad I have the season pass for this. I cannot wait for the new elements. I just really need to sort out my MP game. I have been getting a battering lately.
