Slightly Mad Studios appears to have gone completely mad as it has confirmed that Project CARS will have a total of 110 tracks to race around, across 30 different locations from around the world. These tracks all look like they’ll be available from launch, as the phrase on the official site states, “Project CARS has the largest roster of race locations of any recent racing game…”

There are some iconic names in that list including Brands Hatch, Nürburgring, and Monza, as well as tracks that wouldn’t be too familiar to those who don’t follow motor-sport closely, including myself. It is an impressive roster though, and working out the best race line for each of them in various vehicles should be quite a interesting challenge.

Quite a good line up there, and interestingly whereas the two most pro-racing sims on the consoles have a mixtures of home brewed and city circuits, Project Cars seems to be near 100% focused on real track racing.
Notably Suzuka is missing, although replaced by the Suzuka-inspired Sakitto, but it’s not quite the same. There’s also one or two tracks which I’m sure I saw on youtube videos of the PC alpha/beta versions, but they don’t appear here. From what I’ve heard, there’s still some licensing to be done by the devs.
Now we just need the car list I think (or near to it).

There is a list of some cars on the PCars website, but a full list can be found on their forum.

With that many there should be enough to suit everyones tastes.
Oh, and either there’s more than one Chesterfield in the UK or I’ve managed to avoid knowledge of a go kart track being here!

I used to brave crossing the county line and have the occasional evening on the drinking in Chesterfield back in the day.

Long time lurker since the Great Gamergate Kerfuffle, posting for the first time!
There are two Chesterfields in the UK. There is one in Staffordshire, and I live in the other one, north Derbyshire.
There is a karting circuit somewhere about the place, which I think is run by a company called “Avago Karting”.
I don’t know about any karting in Staffordshire.
beeje13
Welcome to TSA! I’m from the same Chesterfield, and that Avago Karting is another indoor place located on an industrial estate near Rotherham, can’t see that featuring in a major game release!
The Chesterfield In Staffordshire looks like a collection of farms and cottages from Google Maps, no sign of a race track.
NicholasHeathfield
Thanks beeje. Yes, I just looked up Avago, and it’s a very small indoor circuit which is also now closed. There is no evidence of any outdoor kart circuit in our Chesterfield, or the tiny one in Staffordshire.
There’s a not-too-shabby one in Sheffield though. Anyway, even if the circuit is made up, it’s nice to have Chesterfield put on the map of video game culture!
btw we should totally organise a Chesterfield Chesterfield Time Trial Tournament for Project CARS when the game comes out. :D

Welcome to the TSA community Nicholas or “hey up duck” as was once used in olden day Derbyshire dialect…maybe still?
I’m up for the Chesterfield Time Trial, love a good leaderboard challenge ;)

Not sure, haven’t really lived here long. Someone I sort-of know has more connections than I do and wants to do games entertainment as a business, so I suppose I’ll start there.
Since this might be the first time Chesterfield is featured in a video game outside of football, there might be some strong public interest in it. It’d be really great if, I dunno, Pomegranate Theatre has a spare day some time in the next couple of months and if they could be persuaded that this would be a Good Thing for the Whole Community.
Failing that, might be able to set something up at that Comics and Collectibles place, if we badgered them about it and made it at least look like we’d done a lot of the groundwork.
NicholasHeathfield
Or the Winding Wheel auditorium might be more appropriate. ‘t would cost about £150 to hire it for the minimum three hours and have a multimedia projector set up though.
Maybe should sell tickets or get sponsorship first…
freezebug2
No, I was thinking an online Time Trial leaderboard at the Chesterfield Karting GP track which should be an integral part of the games interactive capability ;)

Stonking line up of tracks, of which I’ve raced several over the years digitally within a culmination of gens and consoles.
I was actually born in Chesterfield, but we had to quickly make an escape when the villagers were seen marching up the hill towards the castle with pitchforks and lanterns :P
Seriously though I was born there, moved away shortly afterwards but have never heard of the Karting GP track!
beeje13
There’s the Kurburgring not too far, but it’s an indoor track mainly for recreation rather than racing.
There’s also an error that it says Imola (love that track from when F1 used to race there) is in Italy, when it’s more correct to say San Marino.
TSBonyman
I’ve just googled Greenwood, Repuplic of Ireland Karting and .. nothing. I guess some of the locations must be made up.
beeje13
Ah yes, good find that. I’m guessing employee of the month at the studio got to choose the location for the track or something like that, can’t see any logical reason otherwise.
camdaz
@Beejee13, yes Imola is in San Marino. But as San Marino is in Italy, as viewed on a map, I suppose they’re also right. Or at least half right :-)
bunimomike
Ah, the numbers game. Under all of this, I just hope it’s a good racer. Simple as that.
camdaz
Good to see SMS have included a lot of the lesser known tracks and not stuck to the usual tracks seen in racing games, especially the ones that I raced a lot in the TOCA games.
3shirts
Yay, Donington.
Love that circuit!
