EA’s upcoming Star Wars Battlefront reboot won’t feature aim-down/ironsights for many of its weapons, Executive Producer Patrick Bach has confirmed. Speaking with GamesRadar he mentioned that although some guns come equipped with scopes, traditional ironsights are nowhere to be seen.
It’s an unexpected design choice, considering the overwhelming number of first person shooters that have adopted this aim-enhancing feature. That said, DICE is no doubt trying to distance Battlefront from its well-established Battlefield series, even if that means experimenting with the genre’s tried and tested blueprint.
Star Wars Battlefront is slated to launch this November on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Premium DLC. Comes as part of a £39.99 season pass.

This was exactly the case in the old Battlefront games :) nothing to worry about!

Good news. Although they STILL haven’t shown any game play. Starting to wonder why they feel the need to hide.
Takyu
To be fair, they’re probably saving that for E3 next month.

Exactly this. The hype they can generate around the game is much greater by drawing out the reveals little by little. The game has been shown to select people behind closed doors, who have come out with positive things to say about it, but for the actual gameplay reveal, they’ll almost certainly hold onto that for their press conference at E3, as well as an appearance in either the Sony or Microsoft conference.

I call, battlefront beta, available now on PS4 like they did with hardline at E3, calling it now :)

Good. It makes TPS just as playable as FPS, and a lot of people will want TPS only.
Plus, since when has anyone in a Star Wars movie actually looked down their sights? They’re all hip shooters. The ones who come closest to ADS are the Stormtroopers, and they always miss.

You’ve hit the nail right on the head. Han Solo would never look cool aiming down the sights of his blaster.
Third person is where it’s at with this game in my opinion. I always played it that way with the last two games.
Old School
So basically your aim will be like the average Storm Trooper? Smart

As someone who only started playing FPS’s properly (bar goldeneye) when COD 4 came along this news would normally put me off buying a game (a la Halo) but I’m too hyped to care as its Star Wars (plus Third Person View)

You have got to be joking, please tell me you’re joking?

They’re joking, don’t worry!

Gutted , this was a definite buy for me but not now . Those type of shooters just don’t cut it with me. Real pity as it releases on my birthday and was going to convince the wife to get it for me.
rossthebassist
i take it you never played the old battlefront games.

I thought from the beginning that this game wouldn’t feature aimming down the sights.
The Stormtrooper weapons don’t look like the type you’d aim down the sights.
RudeAwakening
To be honest Iron sights in FPSs’ are shite! (To put it bluntly) I’d rather use a CQ/4x scope then have to stare down through the terrible iron sights.
What will you need iron sights for anyway, it’s Star Wars, i’ll be using my lightsaber baby!!
