The Voice Actors For The Witness Have Been Revealed

Forthcoming PlayStation 4 and PC game The Witness will include some recognisable voices when you play the game, although you will only be able to hear them speak via audio logs. The cast includes:

  • Ashley Johnson, who you may know as Ellie from The Last of Us, or from her roles in Tales from the Borderlands and Infamous: First Light. She also plays the smartest person on the hit TV show Blindspot.
  • Phil LaMarr, who I best know as Marvin from Pulp Fiction, but who you may know as Vamp in Metal Gear Solid 2 and 4, or as Ratbag from Shadow of Mordor. He also played Hermes in Futurama and Ollie Williams in Family Guy!
  • Matthew Waterson, who played very English person Sir Lucan in The Order: 1886, and has recently acted in Fallout 4 and Halo 5.
  • Terra Deva, an oft-performing musician, including recent hit single “At Night” with the Swiss group Shakedown (though she doesn’t play music in The Witness because we don’t have music in The Witness! She is acting!) and veteran of… The Mickey Mouse Club (among many other places)!!

Here’s a rather awesome a cheeky bootleg mix of Shakedown’s “At Night” featuring Terra on vocals. Reach for the lasers!

The Witness is out on January 26th for PC and PlayStation 4.

  1. I read about this yesterday and was shocked to discover Phil LaMarr was in Pulp Fiction. Somehow never made that connection.

He’s just Hermes from Futurama, really. Being the best character in Futurama. Apart from Zoidberg. And the professor. And Lrrr and his charming wife Ndnd.

And he’s in Shadow of Mordor, which I finally got around to playing due to a cheap deal last week?

These voice people need to stop being in so many things.

    • Yeah, he gets unceremoniously shot in the face in Pulp Fiction, which is quite an important plot piece for the whole thing.

Truth is, he is in the same camp as Nolan North & Troy Baker in that he appears in almost everything. Only thing with Phil LaMarr though is that he does TV & Film voiceovers & general acting as well.

Still, when you are as good as he is, it just doesn’t matter.

      • IMDB lists him as having 176 actor credits. Which is a lot. But not compared to 307 for Nolan North or 256 for Troy Baker.

Still nothing compared to Frank Welker and his 755 credits. An actor nobody’s heard of, but who quite possibly is the most successful actor ever, based on how much money everything he’s been in has made. (Although due to “reasons”, he doesn’t count and it was Samuel L Jackson, and now Harrison Ford. That new Star Wars somehow did that)
