EVE: Valkyrie Will Feature Cross Platform Play Between Oculus, Vive & PSVR

Often seen as the poster child for the first generation of virtual reality systems, EVE: Valkyrie is currently only playable on the Oculus Rift, where it was bundled alongside pre-orders of the headset. We’ve known of the PlayStation VR version of the game for quite some time, and it will come out on PSVR at its launch, but HTC Vive support will only be added later this year, despite that headset already being on the market.

So, Valkyrie will eventually grace all three of these VR platforms, but at the EVE Fanfest today, CCP announced that they won’t keep the three systems separate and will allow for cross-platform play.

With this being a multiplayer oriented space dogfighting sim, combining the potential player bases is a healthy step for the longevity of the game.

There’s also a new game mode coming to the game called Carrier Assault, which you can check out in the following trailer and will be part of the game’s first free update.

  1. CCP has always pushed this sort of stuff, which is great.

  2. I like the look of this game but as it’s “multiplayer oriented” not sure if I’ll get it as I’m not the best at online play, that’s what put me off Elite. Looks like it’ll be good in VR though.

    • Elite can be played solo as well.. Even though its online and the universe is updated, you can play solo so no other players are there, just NPCs. I always play that way and have a good time with it.

      • Cheers for that, I’ll have another look at it.
