Update: The official version of the Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare trailer has been released. The trailer also confirms the existence of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, which is a part of the pre-order package for the Legacy Edition and Digital Deluxe edition of Infinite Warfare.
Infinite Warfare is out on November 4th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Infinite Warfare takes the Call of Duty series out into space and to the surface of other planets, with you playing as the captain of your own warship and taking command in the war against the Settlement Defence Front. It also sounds as though the story will hinge upon your own choices and actions, as the press release states that it “will test [player’s] training and reveal their true character as they learn to lead and to make the hard decisions necessary to achieve victory.”
Meanwhile, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remaster seems to be in the hands of Raven Software. Studio head Brian Raffel says, “It’s an honour to be developing the remaster and we are committed to faithfully remastering this classic for Call of Duty fans.”
The Modern Warfare remaster will include both the single player campaign and the multiplayer, with 10 maps, XP, killstreaks, prestiging and everything else that will be instantly familiar to its fans.
It’s not currently clear if Modern Warfare Remastered will be available separately, or if it will only be sold alongside Infinite Warfare.
Original Story.
Nothing ever goes quite to plan, and the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare reveal trailer has leaked online ahead of its intended release at 4PM today. Hulu mistakenly posted the 48 second trailer, which confirms the 4th November 2016 release date and had the following description:
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare returns to the roots of the franchise where large-scale war and cinematic, immersive military storytelling take center stage. Prepare for a gripping war story in which players fight against the Settlement Defense Front to defend our very way of life.

Those wanting historical warfare will be disappointed. There’s a glimpse of a jetpack/double jump off in the corner of a ground assault, as well blasting off into outer space to a terribly generic cover of David Bowie.

It looks like it’s going full force into Halo/Titanfall territory, which is never good because those games have nailed it and I doubt CoD will offer anything new and exciting.
Perhaps they’ll keep going further into the future with these games to a point where it will be weird indie crap exploring abstract rooms and shapes ala the endings of 2001/Interstellar.

What a load of dog shit. Activision are a bunch of idiots – THREE separate developers and we still get 3 futuristic games, none of them even similar to the series roots like Big Red One, 3, W@W or MW. The sooner they package the likes of Zombies and Extinction the better, so I can bypass the throw-away campaigns and multiplayer.
Avenger
I’ve said it a dozen times, I’d love to play a second Extinction. I would, I would, I would. I wouldn’t mind if they returned to doing modern warfare either, or at least doing something a little more obscure like WWI, or maybe focusing more on the pacific or African conflicts of WWII. Something to change things up a bit. Still we get this, and it could sell if they forcibly attach CoD 4 remastered to it.

There were rumours around the time of the IW law suit that said Activision could retain the COD name but not set any more titles in historical or modern timeframes. Guess the constant futuristic titles since then point to that being true… Remastering MW is probably a loop hole in that it is not a new title, and the settlement pre-dates the remastering craze so probably wasn’t even considered.
But yeah, would love another extinction, even standalone. Kinda miffed that this isn’t Ghosts 2 :/

Wow that doesnt look at all like Killzone

Ugh, looks dreadful.
Hopefully a few months after release, they start selling the remaster separately. I’m not playing £75 just to play COD4 again.

Interesting. Haven’t bought a CoD since 4 and will definitely be getting the remake. Might consider this as well. Saw new trailer at http://callofdutyinfinitewarfare.net

The small print about Modern Warfare Remastered is interesting (at the end of the video).
“MWR contains only campaign and 10 MP maps.”
There were definitely more maps than that when I was playing it. Wiki tells me there are 20 maps currently.
So we won’t be getting the full remaster anyway. I’m also curious if we’ll even be playing those maps in the multiplayer we remember from CoD4, or if it will be a map pack for Infinite Warfare. Hopefully it’s a separate thing.

10 at launch with more to follow as DLC, I guarantee it.

The small print mentions it as a ‘full game download’.

I’ve already seen a lot of “it’s Killzone!” comments and I do have to say, the whole trailer kept reminding me of Killzone 1 constantly.
What an odd time to live in when COD – a classic WW2 shooter – becomes Killzone – a future warfare shooter.
Also, the remasterd MW looked way more exciting than IW!

They shoulda remastered World At War !!!

Yes! The last good CoD.
