PlayStation Are Sponsoring Pride London 2017

Well this is rather lovely, as PlayStation UK announced over the weekend that they will be sponsoring the annual LGBT Pride in London festival this year.

I think my favourite thing about this, though, is Sony’s clever twist on their tagline and mantra of the PlayStation 4 era. “For the Players” has been given a little twist to be “For ALL the Players”, with a hashtag to suit.

Pride is running between 24th June and 9th July, but the main event, the parade through the city and all the partying that goes alongside it, is on the Saturday 8th July.

  1. I really wish they’d gone with For The Gaymers. :D

    • That isn’t inclusive though. The whole point of this sort of thing is everyone is treated equally, hence “For ALL the Players.”

Personally I bloody hate “Gaymer”. Who you like to have rumpy pumpy with has no bearing on how good you are at Destiny. I mean, you don’t have homosexuals builders calling themselves “BrickGayers” do you?

      • Well, no, that would be silly! :P

My play on words means that the phonemes don’t even change but I wasn’t looking to be taken seriously. :-\

  2. Lovely news indeed, well done Sony.

  3. Delightful, as a big fat Gaymer, this makes me happy even if I have no want or need to bounce around being proud of my sexual preference. Now… its that a Move controller in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?

  4. It’s a nice gesture I suppose and a rainbow PS4 would be pretty cool.

I wonder if they’ll sponsor the Feminist March next year?

    • Yea… no, i ain’t commenting on this. *grabs coat*

  5. Good on Sony, i suppose but surely, For the Players implies it’s for everyone? Or does the PS4 pro have a rather nasty surprise for those who have different sexualities?

It’s gaming. It’s a hobby. Anyone can do it. I…. er… yeah, anyone can game.

I hope this has not come off as offensive. Not my intent. I just merely feel that it already was equal. Granted, there are sections of gamers that are utter knobs but everything has it’s fair share of utter knobs.

    • Not offensive. It’s just something you don’t quite understand if it doesn’t apply to you.

Just read some of the replies to that tweet from Sony. That’ll demonstrate why (a) these events are still necessary, and (b) why it’s good to have them supported by Sony. It’s basically Sony saying “that shit’s just not acceptable. Anyone want to pop up and prove what a complete idiot they are?”

Sadly, lots of people did just that.

    • For the Players is for everyone, For ALL the Players emphasised that inclusivity.
