The Banner Saga Is No Longer Coming To Vita As Project Is Cancelled

Stoic and Versus Evil have had a troubled development cycle when it comes to The Banner Saga’s Vita port, and after a good couple of years of trying to get the game running smoothly on the handheld the decision has been made to cancel the project altogether. The Vita version was announced a few years ago and eventually Sony stepped in to help with the development.

None of it really helped. In a statement released by Versus Evil the decision for cancellation was explained.

The game needs a lot more time to get it to the conditions we expect for Vita and Banner Saga fans. To add to this, it does not include a lot of the finishing touches and updates the Stoic team has since launched on the other platforms. Essentially, it would take more time and funding to make this port a reality and despite the best efforts from multiple studios, we have all agreed that this is the best course of action for right now.

Of course you can still play The Banner Saga series on a number of other platforms but don’t ever expect to see it on Vita.

  1. Oh dear, that’s a huge shame, I’ve played a bit on iOS but was looking forward to giving the game a proper crack on Vita. I’m surprised they got the game out on Android and iOS and couldn’t squeeze it onto the Vita, I don’t know anything about these things but seems like phones and tablets give devs less control over performance than portable consoles.
