Rainbow Six Siege Free Weekend Starts Tomorrow

Ubisoft’s tactical multiplayer shooter is in rude health these days with over 30 million players, and with the Pro League Finals this weekend and the reveal of Operation Para Bellum, they’re looking to get even more people involved. So, as the company’s done on numerous occasions for their games, Rainbow Six Siege is having a free weekend, starting tomorrow 17th May.

You’ll have until Sunday 20th May to play, whether on PC, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, and any progress that you make can carry over should you decide to then buy it. Naturally, Ubisoft are discounting the game’s various versions by up to 50% off, and these discounts last until 21st May on PC, 23rd May on PS4 and 28th May on Xbox One. Why the big difference? Who knows.

Really all of this is in aid of building hype for the next big update to the game, Operation Para Bellum, which will feature two new Italian operators and a new map, The Villa, and will be shown off for the first time on 19th May at the Pro League Finals taking place in Atlantic City.

  1. I may well give it another go then. See if it tempts me in.

But what’s with all the different versions of the game on sale at various prices? For 16, 20, 40 and 60 quid? With a season pass that doesn’t seem to add anything for £25, or included with 3 of those 4 versions.

Are they basically just charging £25 a year on top of whatever you pay to save time?

Also, is it even worth starting at this point? Seems like it might not be a great experience with people who have been playing for years now.

    • You just need the base game, I have it and it’s great. The season pass add ons are just one big microtransaction to unlock stuff early etc
