Final Fantasy XIV: new job class and race announced for Shadowbringers

Final Fantasy XIV’s upcoming Shadowbringers expansion will introduce a new Dancer job class as well as the Hrothgar, a new playable race.

These announcements come from the latest Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival in Tokyo where the game’s producer, Naoki Yoshida, announced a slew of new content coming as part of the Shadowbringers expansion in July.

Alongside the previously confirmed Gunbreaker, it will introduce a new “Dancer” job class. Although categorised as a damage archetype, the Dancer will also be able to perform moves that help buff teammates.

It was also announced that the Hrothgar will be a new playable race in Shadowbringers. These feline beefcakes are male only, however, with the expansion’s Viera race also being gender-locked.

The team also revealed a bevy of new content being added including two new player cities, the “Eden” raid, and a new beast tribe complete with Primal. Shadowbringers will see the Warriors of Light continue their quest in the game’s unfolding narrative, transporting them across dimensions to The First World.

During February’s Fan Festival in Paris, it was confirmed that a Final Fantasy XIV NieR: Automata collaboration will take place with Yoko Taro lending his talents to creating a new Alliance Raid.
