At 6pm UK Guardians from the UK including many of thesixthaxis Destiny clan warped in to the Tower to watch the climatic end to the current season. In case you didn’t know, Bungie are trying to do a Fortnite style live event where the Almighty, a huge spaceship, is crashing in to the Earth
Trying if the word because whatever is happening, is happening very, very, very, very slowly. According to Forbe’s Paul Tassi the live event has started, not that anyone can tell.
Have been told it’s starting
Just slow
Do not leave

The glacial pace of the event has lead to Guardians wonder if Rasputin, the super computer who was meant to be blowing the Almighty out of the sky, is having problems.
@DestinyTheGame has Rasputin got error code beaver? #destiny2

It is assumed that Rasputin will wake up at some point and blow up the ship but the Tower and possibly other areas of the EDZ will be damaged.
UPDATE: Ooh there’s pink lines heading to the ship. Exciting. Only took an hour.

Bungie’s community manager has explained the event is going to be glacial.
Taking down a ship that size will take more than just an instant. Pull up a chair, grab some popcorn, and enjoy.

The ridiculous pace of the event is coming under heavy criticism with many saying they just can’t hang around for hours for the event to conclude.
I think this is cool but you gotta give more of an indication of how much time people should budget. I figured this wouldn’t go past ten minutes
— Paul Tassi (@PaulTassi) June 6, 2020
UPDATE #2: More sparkles! One hour and twenty minutes and we’re still going. Destiny 2 is also trending worldwide but perhaps for not the reasons Bungie had hoped for.
SEEING A LOT MORE SPARKLES NOW, BOYS #Destiny2

UPDATE #3: The ship has finally been destroyed and can be seen in flames if you look out the back of the Tower, it was quite impressive but it should have happened an hour and half ago.
Earlier this week, Bungie posted and then deleted a short video on Instagram that pointed to the developer holding an event to reveal the next Destiny 2 expansion on June 9th. It seems someone got a bit too excited when the posted that, but now Bungie has confirmed that it will indeed be hosting an event on June 9th to look at the future of Destiny 2. The event will be starting at 9am PDT/5pm BST/6pm CEST. According to the short video from yesterday, Europa will be the location where players will be going.
We will have to wait until June 9th to really get the details about what to expect and how it will play out. Bungie has confirmed that it will be releasing Destiny 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X, so there may be news about that too. The news came via a Tweet the company posted in reply to the official Xbox account which had listed the developers that would be creating games for the Xbox Series X. However, it is not yet clear how the transition between generations will occur, but Bungie has stated that it will release more details soon on how Destiny 2 will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Bungie is yet to give details on the multiplayer and whether Destiny 2 on the next generation will support cross-platform play and whether the player base will be split across console generations or if players will be able to compete with each other across generations.
