Outriders dev anticipates refunds on Xbox after Game Pass announcement

In case you missed the news, Outriders will be available to play via Xbox Game Pass on launch day. Just weeks from the game’s release date, Microsoft and Square Enix made the announcement that will see the upcoming loot shooter added to Xbox’s ever-growing catalogue of games on demand.

Naturally, there will be a number of gamers who have already pre-ordered Outriders for either Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. In a recent post over on the Outriders subreddit, developer People Can Fly outlined what Outriders bonuses pre-orders will include as well as how to cancel your existing pre-order if you plan on playing via Xbox Game Pass.

The Polish studio confirmed that the Hell’s Rangers content pack will not be available with the Game Pass edition of Outriders even though all versions of the game will go live on April 1st, 2021.

If you’re planning to cancel your Outriders pre-order following the recent Xbox Game Pass announcement, here’s how:

I’ve already pre-ordered Outriders but I would like to cancel my Xbox pre-order in light of the Game Pass news

• No problem, we absolutely get it! We’ve worked hard with Xbox to make things as easy as possible for you. So, below are the steps you can take to cancel your pre-order if you have pre-ordered directly from Xbox:

  • Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders

  • Look for the pre-order in your order history – this will be dated from when you originally placed the pre-order, not when Outriders will be releasing

  • Once found, you will see an option to Cancel the pre-order listed under the release date

    • a. If you’ve paid with a credit card, then it’ll cancel with no charge

    • b. If you’ve paid using Microsoft account credit (either fully or partially) then your credit will be returned to you, with no charge on the card

  • If for any reason you don’t see the option to cancel, or if you’re trying to cancel within 10 days from launch, you’ll need to get in touch with the Xbox team via https://xbox.com/refund

• If you have pre-ordered via a local retailer (Amazon, Gamestop, GAME etc.) you will need to contact them directly regarding your order.

A demo for Outriders was made available last month, allowing players to sample the game’s prologue and first chapter.

Outriders is arriving pretty late into the looter shooter party, but this is a genre that’s sure to stick around for years to come. While there’s nothing particularly unique or ground-breaking, the game’s dungeon-crawling structure, combined with smooth gunplay and devastating Anomaly powers has us wanting more, if only to see how well these elements mature as we reach its endgame climax.
